In cozy mysteries, always be on the lookout for “the innocuous secondary character – introduced, then forgotten”. We saw the Boy when this began, and never since. It was the Boy.
Goldie, what can you expect? It’s Lupin, and it’s string! Of course he’s going to attack it! Lupin has a history with string . . . I think maybe he likes it a little bit too much!
O.T. there is evidence that Mousie was not a lone ranger after all. The trap is reset with a big dollop of peanut butter. I do hope this is not a large family gathering…
Had this silly theory earlier today with my loud neighbors.
I suspect it was the Mailman! Or some other person who might make a loud noise, or knock on the wall. Just enough vibration to jiggle the middle object off a shelf! No one is guilty. But… it would be best to move the shelf.
Goldie, photos and string won’t give you the answer. You need to go round and ask everyone what they saw and heard just before and just after the crash. Then look for a one-armed man.
Yes. I knew the culprit was none of them. We really know who it really was but don’t want to acknowledge it. Yes, folks, just what the alien astronaut theorists had always suspected, it was aliens!
I notice the end of the string is subtly hanging down pointing at Lupin….but that’s too easy. Could this Georgia Dunn character be framing him? Let’s see about expanding the list of usual suspects.
Totally off topic, I wanted to report on recent adoptee tripod Paprika. She is not the best climber like Puck, but she sure is the best pouncer. She no longer hides in a corner under the table, but goes everywhere the cats are allowed. She chases and catches ping pong balls for her favorite toy.
But I have witnessed her burying her pee in the litterbox with her invisible right front leg, then react in surprise?/annoyance? that it wasn’t buried. She then turned around and buried it just fine with her left hand. That made me sad, but maybe it didn’t bother her as much as it bothered me.
National Navaho Code Talkers Day —Their critical role in the Pacific Theater of WWII was classified until 1968, and they were not honored for it until 1982. These Marines may have saved more lives than the medics, or even the doctors treating the wounded.
However, the Navaho were not the only Native American code talkers. The US Army employed Assiniboine, Lakota, Meskwaki, Mohawk, Comanche, Tlingit, Hopi, and Crow soldiers for the same task, though in smaller numbers. This began in WWI as ad-hoc assignments by officers in the field, and continued in WWII. Additionally, other nations also employed. Thank them all for their exceptional service.
National Financial Awareness Day —Even it’s official description is written in excessively verbose Financialese. Repeating it here might break the GoComics servers. Short form: learn to budget, save, and invest carefully, or starve to death while freezing in the dark. Simple, no?
National Creamsicle Day —How I wish they were not frozen chemical soup, these days. The homemade ones are pretty good though. As hot as it’s been around here, I’ll take anything cold, even frozen chemical soup that tastes vaguely orange.
National Wiffle Ball Day — (From the kind of sound, “whiffle.” They dropped the “h” because ad-wonks can spell, they just don’t.)
Basically baseball on a small field, with less deadly weapons than even “softball.” Also a celebration of buzz cut hairstyles, the first step toward truly manly shaven heads …

I knew a cat when string dangles he’d dance for you
On a board of clues
White fur, a business suit and happy fangs
Busy paws too
He jumped so high
He jumped so high
Then he’d loudly touch down
When string dangles
When string dangles
Like Bojangles
Oh Lupin, dance

If you can’t solve it by yourself, take help from a world famous detective, Goldie. This looks like a job for… The Amazing Harry Hoo !

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Time to head back to the palace. Wicket, thank you for your prayers and wisdom.
Prophet Wicket: I am honored to help, Your Majesty. Please come back any time.
Lupinium: Don’t forget, next week I’m coming back to play some one-on-one hoops.
Prophet Wicket: Look forward to it. Baba-Stet, do you have some time to visit?
Baba-Stet: I think I have time for some tea and a biscuit.
At the Palace
Ta-Natash: I had such a relaxing time at the Tea Springs Spa. We all have to go next time.
Agnes-Ata: I think I could get us all in for free by doing a review for the Daily Scroll.
Alice-Ata: We could sign up for their tea and cheese tasting, too.
Violetifa: Looks like tea is in great demand right now. Shall we go and procure some? All for the greater good, of course!
Ta-Natash: Let’s get on it!
