Elizabeth has a good point, even if she is not stating it very well. Contrary to what Elly says about nobody going to say anything if she doesn’t have the B.O. shirt, we saw yesterday that not only did Candace say something; but she pointed out that Elizabeth was unaware that two of her closest friends from ice-skating, Dawn and Luccia, also had B.O. shirts. That means means pretty much every friend of Elizabeth we know was not talking to her about their status clothing.

I just keep remembering one of the trends when I was in middle school. Floral print dresses with spaghetti straps, and plain white shirts under. I was wearing mine before they were ‘in’. Did I get credit for starting the trend? Noooooooo. *sigh

The one’s who won’t talk to you for clothing brand reasons are the ones you don’t really want to talk to any….or waste time with. The word “SHALLOW” comes to mind.

When I was in grade school plenty of kids noticed I was the only one wearing dorky old fashioned dresses my mom made instead of jeans every day, lol. Middle school kids are even more shallow.

Fight it, Liz! Be a leader, not a follower!

I outright refused to be a “follower” in school. & wore what pleased me. I dressed to please myself, & not others, & what I felt comfortable wearing.

Wow, with a setup like everybody has Boston Original clothes, who here didn’t see the punchline coming a mile away?

Come on mom, let Liz have a Boston Original shirt. It is a small purchase to make Liz feel like she is part of the group. It could be an early Christmas present.

By the time she gets one, there will be a new “trend” and she will still be out!

I would be a smart arlec and say “You don’t have B.O. as you take a bath everyday”. LOL

If the subject weren’t so funny, it would be downright serious!

Two options. One: Mom remembers what it’s like to be this age and fit in and allows Liz to have ONE B.O. shirt. OR Liz can take a stand and tell her friends that she is not going to be a walking billboard for the B.O. company without getting paid for it. That said, at HER age, I would not have been strong enough to make such a statement. That IS my mantra now, though, even though I can easily AFFORD such things. But I refuse to walk around with a sweatshirt saying Ralph Lauren or IZOD or something. Unless someone wants to PAY me for product promotion. (To be fair, if I reallllly like the item, I will buy and wear it, but ONLY if the name is very small. Not plastered across my chest!),

No worries. By the time I could get the latest fashion it was out of fashion and my clothes were back in. You can’t go far wrong with blue jeans and a t-shirt(Metalica preferably).

How about you wear what your teachers tell you to and what your parents buy for you? You don’t get a say in what you get to wear, at least not when John and Elly are paying for the clothes on your back. You want a faddish T-shirt, buy it with the money you earn.

“If I don’t have B.O., nobody’s going to talk to me at all.” Well skip a few showers, then you’ll have it.

Sadly true of that age.

Trust me. If you have B.O.. no one will want to be anywhere near you. lol

Love yourself and you will always feel loved.

I’ve found that if you have BO… you should shower more often.

It’s what kids do, sad but kids are mean little ba——-ds

Poor Elizabeth. She’s not old enough to realize that fads come and go. Like about a year or so ago when all the kids were wearing “Hollister” tee shirts. Before that it was Abercrombie & Fitch. Years before that it was the 8 Ball jackets, the Kazel glasses, the fad list is endless. Hell, I can even go back to the bell bottom pants, the women with the Buffalo sandals, and the men wearing platform shoes!

Ah, yes…. pre-teen angst is never pretty.

How can I be a non-conformist if I don’t dress like one?

so elizabeth start saving up your allowance (or earn money, dont you baby sit ? ) for stuff your parents shouldn’t have to pay for.

Then such shallow people should not be worth your time.

Easy fix Elizabeth, do some work, earn some money and buy what you want.

Thankfully when I was her age we didn’t really have big name brands. Maybe Lacoste but my parents could only afford Lakmart and I was happy with that

Isn’t the end of this story arch when the kids discover the double meaning of the initials BO?

In which case Elizabeth, you are better off. Pretentious friends are not worth the bother and true friends don’t care how you dress.

Give it a week… something else will be “in.”
