I know that’s meant to be a magician’s endless ribbon, but I can’t help but see it as the Fourth Doctor’s scarf, and no one can tell me differently. (Indulge me while I believe that the Doctor turns up in the world of OIXL every so often, everyone there sees them as a cat because mumblemumbleperceptionfiltermumble, and they’re totally fine with that.)
The other day I was in traffic behind a car with one of those “coexist” stickers where the letters are religious symbols. This one was done in fat graffiti font with each letter a different color and overlapping. From a distance it looked like what a cartoon character says when he swears.

If ‘doing laundry’ involves restoring the appropriate level of cat hairs to nice, warm piles of textiles, then you have to do it as often as the humans do.
“Magician” is actually a pretty horrible job these days. There’s always some heckler who will have looked up your trick on the Internet. He was lucky to “escape” from it. (I did enjoy the super-long, colored-silk handkerchief.)
Speaking of magicians, the Amazing Randi passed away this week. I was surprised to learn that he toured with Alice Cooper in the 70s and designed many of the stage props, including the guillotine (and I can attest Alice is still using it, or a version of it, these days).
Make a Difference Day: It does not have to be a big difference, and hopefully it will be positive. My physician once said to me: “Society runs in cycles. All we can do is try to be good examples, and wait for the cycle to swing back.” Unfortunately, too few people think enough about that.
40-hour Work Week Day: Unless you are an “exempt” employee. That means you are exempt from having a life. A former employer wanted their employees, exempt or not, to average 50 hours per week. That is unhealthy, both for the employee and the employee’s family. (Who is raising the kids?) Even if what you do for a living is your passion, and you only have one passion, this is still unhealthy. It also hurts your ability and productivity.
World Tripe Day: There is a reason for the second meaning of “tripe.” It means that what someone has said is nonsense or rubbish, in other words, a lot of baloney. And speaking of that …
National Balogna Day: Salami tell you about bologna …There are hundreds of kinds of this sausage, not only the few familiar to most inhabitants of North America, where the sausage contents are so finely ground they cannot be distinguished—possibly not for the best reasons, at least originally. Pass the mustard.
National Crazy Day: How is this day different from all other days? Sanity is for people who cannot handle reality, and that’s no baloney.
Clark is doing well. But not pleased about being confined. 3 years we’ve had the screen door set up. Never a problem.
Until Clark. After lights out last night he decided enough was enough and started clawing the screen. Not in the middle, not at random. Oh no. He dug right in where the screen is pushed into the groove at the bottom. I responded within 2 minutes and lucky I did. He was well on his way to working the screen out.
So, closed the hard door. Sorry bud, but you are just too smart for your own good.
BONUS: His front leg has a shaved band halfway between his ankle and knee joint. He was on an IV for a couple days. About an inch of bare skin all the way around. It looks like he is wearing a high top Ugg boot. A really cool look. Makes me want to shve the other 3 legs. Lisa has pronounced this to be “not a good idea.” I kind of paraphrased that for sensitive readers.

Oh, ho, ho
It’s magic you know
Never believe it’s not so
It’s magic, you know
Never believe it’s not so
Never been a fake
Never seen a jail break
Leaning on my cell wall in the night
Wishing for a bed
Visions in my head
Crazy visions of Bandit and me in flight
Oh, ho, ho
He’s magic, you know
Never believe he’s not so
Bandit’s magic, you know
And Mitty is all like, “D’oh!”

Paul McCartney and Wings: Band on the Run
Stuck in this asylum,
Dr. Mitts is laughing,
Never seeing no one
Until I see you,
Paisley you, Paisley, you.
…….
Now we’re gonna get out of here,
Gonna get out and goin’ away
To connect with my old friends.
All I need are my magical skills
Now we’re gonna get out of here,
Now we’re gonna get out of here!
…….
Well, the wall exploded with a mighty crash
As we ran into the sun,
And Paisley turned to me and she said
I’m really having fun.
Cats on the run, cats on the run.
…….
And old Dr. Mitts,
Just threw a fit
For the cats on the run,
Cats on the run
Cats on the run,
Cats on the run.

SO totally cool the way Bandit just threw Paisley over his shoulder and skedaddled with her out under the starlight! Now that’s REAL magic!

Poor Robin had to suffer through all the Our IX lives stuff (If he was here), so I thought I’d find him something he might enjoy.
