Bernice is starting to GET Shannon’s thought process!! :)

Well, sweet Shannon didn’t last long. Here she is disparaging her cousin-in-law.

Smart alecks, making fun of the one taking responsibility.

Well, well…Bernice is getting along nicely with a kid she claimed not to like. And Shannon snarks in a different way Bernice does but they speak the same language.

What the heck kind of magic cookie icing wand is Bernice holding? And what’s in the “F25” pot is that on the table?

Luann is doing the Gingerbread Man imitation: “Run, run! As fast as you can. You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!”

Good job Bernice! Identical cookies so they won’t have to decide who gets what design.

Lots of smiles on two people that usually don’t have them. Today’s strip is sweet in more ways than one.

I am glad to read Bernice took Luann’s advice and visited her family. Things are rarely as bad as we make them out to be in our minds. And I see she has taken to her nephews.

She still has to deal with her feelings for Jack but the Evanses are likely saving that for another arc (or arcs).

Oh, TJ likes fire, all right. At least they finally admitted it. But it’s been so long the statute of limitations has run out! Burning cookies? Wow, so crazy! No one accidentally burns food unless they’re completely insaaaane! (I am being sarcastic.)

The kid is observant.

Right now, I’d say we’re into the “feel good” portion of this arc.

Still, there looks to be a lot of folks who still – let’s just say – intensely dislike Shannon – even when she’s being creative. Maybe especially when she’s being creative.

(Intensely dislike because, to me, hate really is a four letter word)

As for (presumably) Luann’s decorated cookie – I don’t see it as a “diss” as much as I see it as accurate.

That’s my two cents worth, and I’m out of here.

Wow – that crazy, mixed – up looking cookie; I never knew that Shannon was a Phyllis Diller fan.

My father always claimed he loved burnt cookies. He’d eat the ones that had that char on them, bless him :) I swear, he actually came to love them, told my sister and me that we had to burn a few on purpose for him when baking! Yes, we did :) I miss him so much..

Annnnnnnd Luann just joined the growing list of those NOT getting a cookie this year.

And note that the ONE doing MOST of the hard work is getting the least. Not unlike most the middle class. Tsk Tsk!

In the meantime, Bernice is slowly being assimilated and joining the Shannon Collective.

A messy cookie for a messy Luann.

I must resist the temptation to replace our oven, but it’s temperature control is erratic and the broiler is useless.

So sweet! Bernice went from being scared of her nephews to decorating cookies for them ♡. And Shannon was able to perfectly capture Luann’s personality with her decoration. Bernice is amused, but Shannon looks at Luann with eyes full of love for her messy babysitter♡♡♡.

You had ONE JOB, Luann…

Glad Bernice ate a cookie and got into the season! Gotta wonder what Luann added to them?

As many prepare to celebrate their version of Hogswatch (some have already, some will in a day or two) I’ll wish you all a Merry Hogswatch or whatever you’re celebrating about this season!!

I’m impressed. Shannon has abandoned the baby talk and is actually speaking with her volume turned down and participating with others – instead of screaming, breaking things and demanding attention. Who’d a thunk it?

Any chance we could drop neurotic Bernice and go to Peru to see how independent and self confident Rosa is doing?

TJ likes fire? Didn’t he set the kitchen on fire at Toni and Brad’s house once? And there was the time his catering truck blew up.

i like the way Shannon and Bernice are getting along; outspoken bluntness is something they have in common. maybe these two can learn from each other. I’m hoping that tomorrow will bring a happy family scene at the Halper house instead of the typical Degroot present opening debacle.

Nice to see Bernice relating to Shannon and Shannon sitting and decorating cookies. She must be around Miss Luann more than we know to recognize her quirks. Fun!Merry Christmas, everyone! ;-)

Apparently Luann is the only one capable of taking the cookies out of the oven. Bernice just sits there complacently on her lazy butt and watches while the stove catches fire.

Actually I’m surprised Shannon didn’t try to take the cookies out of the oven. Doing something like that would be totally in keeping with her behavior.

That comment about TJ made me laugh.

HILARITY ENSUES! Twin son’s stepsons. Red candies for fiery TJ (very observant) all mixed up for Luann, which Bernice sees, with her friend running to the oven in the punch line third panel. Happy Christmas!

Winding down 2020’s highlight reel and this won’t be one of them. I think Tiffany’s return to her father’s mansion and her exposing Ann Eiffel as a fraud with help from Les was my favorite story line. Next year, a trip to Peru to rescue Rosa and Gunther’s little child? Maybe not.

The trick with cookies is to not tidy up the pan after you put the raw dough on it. Those little spots of spilled cookie dough will burn and warn you that the cookies are perfectly done. Grandma always cooked by smell.

The readers may have forgotten about TJ destroying his own food truck for the insurance money, but Shannon hasn’t.

Wow Nancy sure is a terrible parent. Imagine a 20 year old unable to bake cookies without burning them. It’s like luann is some sort of feral child.

Hey now come on… no matter how good our skills might be, I’m sure we’ve all had the experience of getting distracted while a pot is on the stove until suddenly it starts to give off that charred smell.

Shannon the Brat and Bernie seem to think alike and be on the Same Page. —Speaks volumes….
