As a matter of fact, once applied, every color is darker than the paint chip.

I too have been guilty of Mansplaning, but I’ve seen it done the way Janis is doing it.

Guess she needs new sight for nail holes for the new picture that will cover the “darker” paint.

And you wonder why Arlo is not anxious to do things around the house.

Tell Janis to go have a glass of wine. When she finishes the paint will be dry and also match the chip. (if it doesn’t who cares time for Arlo’s glass of wine)

I’ve always thought it ridiculous that women are explaining that men ‘manslpain’
. Almost as good as those who condemn all who are ‘judgmental’, thus judging that judgments are somehow evil

I did the deck. Two weeks of pressure washing, “brightening”, etc, then a day of sweeping, painting, sweep another section, paint, pick up branches and leaves, re-paint. This week will be cleaning the gazebo – no painting.

My own Janis used to do everything that Janis does in today’s strip. One time, I finally put down the tools and walked away, telling her that the job was hers. I stuck to my guns and did absolutely nothing more, not even putting things away. I no longer hear any “helpful” questions or criticisms.

    I love her, but

When I cook or bake my wife will be in the kitchen asking why I’m doing something a certain way or saying that’s not how her mother/grandmother/greatgrandmother did it. When she cooks or bake – there must be silence!

“Mansplaining” might be new, but “Nagging” goes back to the beginning of time.

Don’t mansplain. Just hand her the paint brush and walk away.

He seems to be handling it rather well. Since they have a great marriage, I wonder what the story before this was.

And if she says, “Just paint it white,” don’t believe the white you pick will be the white she wanted since there are probably 20 whites..

The typical definition of mansplaining is “When a man explains something to a woman in a patronizing tone as if the woman is too emotional and illogical to understand.”

But it is also when a man has minute and arcane knowledge of a subject and thinks you will be interested in hearing all of it. Many engineers fall into the habit of mansplaining. _(Of which I am guilty.)

Usually they get lighter as they dry, thus the mansplaining

Most pigments fade with age, especially if exposed to UV.

In the movie “ Pollock”, Jackson is working on a painting. Wife Lee comes in, starts asking why he is doing certain colors, certain strokes, etc etc. Finally he hands her the brush and says “ Here, you paint the F’ing thing!”

I can’t think of what it was that we recently bought, I don’t think paint (and if it was it was craft paint not wall paint). We had to go back because it was too dark a shade of beige/brown – husband was upset and it would not work with the project he was doing – “What do you mean tan is always a darker shade than (whatever color I had suggested)”.
