I live(ed) on a dead end road. I would take the path to the top of the hill then around the hill and back to the house, about 3 miles, most of the way on paths off roads. Yesterday they leveled all the trees and started clearing the grounds at the top of the hill and are starting construction on a through road. No more dead end, no more forested path.
Jordan Ellenberg’s terrific new book Shape is a paean to geometry. He’d identify this as a problem that could be solved by adhering to a convex polygon, AKA running around the block.
For heaven’s sake, they could skip a run for one day. For a laid back philosophical kind of guy he sure spends a lot of time complaining about the rest of humanity.

Teleportation looks better and better. Leave the in between parts for the folks who enjoy the view.

With all the running they do, they should know plenty of places/routes that are less (or almost never) traveled.

Try the park… but remember, walking and strolling get right-of-way.

There are some great Metro Parks in Southeast Michigan they can use.

I don’t know of any interstate highways that would allow walking or running.

We have a trail system that snakes around the city. Just watch out for the cyclists if you are on foot.

Depending on weather, a good weekend to enjoy the deck, distant fireworks, and the company of my best girl.

Why would they care about vehicular traffic when running? One would hope that they’re not of the ilk that drives somewhere to exercise.

Why would they go to the high school? Isn’t that where they’re setting up for the fireworks show?

That’s exactly the “reasdoning” that had been used by the EPA to declare that a puddle was a navigable waterway.

Or, what a concept!, you could drive to the track!
