As Ray Toler was saying yesterday, Las Vegas seems to be the place for weddings with minimal fuss. We haven’t seen Honeymoon’s baby brother, Trey, in quite some time, so it’s nice to see him. It seems like nobody in Junior’s family believes this news item, least of all, Honeymoon.
The “wedding cake” panel is pretty amusing! Still, Sparkle of all people knows the report can’t be true. Mysta recently admitted to Honeymoon that Junior is the only man she wants — so Honeymoon knows the report is fake news, too. But is there enough legal justification for Tracy to open an official investigation?
Poor Junior has to deal with his ex wife and current wife while the ex husband of his current wife is interested in his ex wife or a remake of her. Confused yet?
Time for Honeymoon to scan the airwaves. Sparkle’s gettin’ her mad on, and why not ? She would have gone to Mysty’s registered space with Tiffany’s for a break-the-bank gift had she known.
1) I don’t like the way Junior’s mouth is drawn in the second panel.
2) The image of Honeymoon in panel 5 is flawless.
3) I’ve never liked the horizontal line Joe draws below the eyes on some characters.
4) Why is the Sunday layout always the same? It’s been they took over the strip 10 years ago. Give us 6, 7, or more panels and tell us more story. For example, with one more panel, we could see Tracy answer the phone and say, “Hello, Honeymoon. What’s up?” and that’d be enough to advance the story.
Except for the complaints I just made, I like the artwork very much, but I still prefer the dailies.
I don’t like the way Honeymoon is thinking instead of saying her doubts out loud for her parents to hear. Can we please, please have Dick Tracy investigate this, and ultimately rescue the captives, and NOT have Honeymoon running around being a precocious kid saving the day!
Just , Great images again today . I’m just not so sure about the story line . What his he trying to get accomplished ? Beautiful face is the forth frame . Great job today as always to Joe and Mike .
The last panel confirms that Mysta and Honeymoon haven’t had any telepathic contact yet. Not that anyone thought they had, but it’s for sure now, or else Honeymoon surely would have told her parents and Tracy about Mysta’s plight. The only reasonable explanation I can see is that Archival’s ring attack has shorted out Mysta’s telepathic powers, at least temporarily. It’s the only explanation that makes sense. I expect we’ll get confirmation of this soon.
1-BETTY: I’M SICK OF THESE BRATS. AND I’M SICK OF YOU, YOU SELF-ABSORBED, LAZY BUM! I WISH YOU HAD MARRIED VERONICA!
2-ARCHIE: Don’t be that way, Betty. Veronica and I were too much alike. I chose you because you’re the opposite of me. You’d think I’d get some appreciation for walking away from all that dough – not to mention the better looking chick – just to be with you.
3-BETTY: I should a married Moose. He was sweet and made great money as a pro-football blind-side tackle!
4-ARCHIE: Yeah, he was sweet but not so sweet that he would’ve married someone…
5-…who had Jughead’s lovechild as baggage – not to mention the kid with the horns.
BETTY: DAMMIT HONEYMOONS! TRY GETTING SOME IN JUGGIE’S MOUTH ONCE IN A WHILE!!!
If Honeymoon and Mysta connect telepathically at this point it only proves that the writing was so weak that everybody easily predicted what would happen weeks before it did. If they don’t connect telepathically then the writing is also weak proving that Mike is not aware of the most obvious method of escape that the characters would logically utilize. Somethime Mike is more clever than either of those scenarios would indicate and has something else up his sleeve, but sometimes he is not and does not. I guess we will see if this story’s predictability indicates first-draft writing or if there is a unique take on a derivative “kidnap people for and keep them hostage like animals in a zoo” plot.
Is it possible that the reason Honeymoon doesn’t believe the elopement story is because she thinks Mysta would have told her about it, telepathically or otherwise?
Honeymoon is at an age where she’s noticing boys, yet there she is, “feeding” a doll with a spoon like a tot. …unless it’s not a doll? I don’t recognize that cast member. He’d be too young to be Dick and Tess’ biological son Joe.
Wait…wait a minute. That’s Sparkle Plenty, right? And she’s married to Junior right? Who’s kid is that? It’s not Moonite? Who are Sparkles parents? Is the woman in P3 Sparkle’s Mom? Then who’s her Dad? What’s wrong with the kid?….He’s gotta be at least 5 or 6, and he’s still spoon fed? Yours truly…“Puzzled in Peoria”.
See where reading the Society Page (if your newspaper still has one; the Chicago Tribune used to have one or two or more as needed back when I read the print edition; but I haven’t done that in years, and the surviving online Trib is kinda sketchy these days, since the Alden Global vampires took over) will land you? The whole Tracy clan’s younger members are caught up in the suspicion that will without doubt spill over onto the patriarch, Dick Tracy, sooner or later—we may hope sooner, before “invincible” youth gets itself into trouble by trying heroics on its own—you know who I mean….
Not to seem dopey, but is “Chimera” based on Greek mythology (a creature of parts of various origins – lion, goat and serpent) or a creature made of genetically different tissues. Recent research suggests that our mothers can contribute to us cells from her mother, siblings, etc. so many of us (all?) are “microchimeras.”

Society page may rant and rage without firm grasp on facts
Some readers love inuendo, juicy gossip and attacks.
Sparkle knows of what she speaks, for she’s the one who wed
A foolish egomaniac. Could not trust what he said.
Honeymoon, she smells a rat. This is not Mysta’s style
Smarts and class, a unique lass, without ego or guile.
What to do? Not sit and stew. Must prove the story wrong
Something rotten in the sound of rumor’s ugly song.

Ok, so now we know Honeymoon and Co. don’t believe it. “Well Golly, that’s a surprise!”
A whole Sunday wasted on captain obvious means less chance for a meaningful ending.
This is looking more and more like the Last Train To Clarksville!

Sam and Liz are already suspicious and Honeymoon should start thinking about communicating telepathically with Mysta…
