Larry’s wife sure is handling things well unlike Larry himself.

Empty nest syndrome? Kids are gone, wife and I are vaccinated, headed out on an 8 day Virgin Islands cruise next month, we come and go as we please, eat where we want without worrying about paying for 7 meals at a time. Is there a down side to this “empty nest” thing?

Junior hasn’t been around for a long time

I always thought Larry’s son would have attend Junior College.

In the last panel, Larry has 2 mouths.

In 2012, we took our daughter to college for Freshman Move-In Day. We got home and there was indeed a strong feeling of emptiness, and awareness of a change in our routine and even in the family dynamics. Lasted about a day.

Poor Dad…..

I can relate. School is a culture shock, for everyone involved.

I don’t understand how any parent can let strangers raise their child.

The double mouth in the last panel is an interesting touch.

When my boys (FINALLY!) return to in-person learning next week I’ll need the empty nest to give me room to dance when I crank up the Dead and take a few days off.

Poor Larry.

That’s delusion or the beginnings of dementia, not empty nest syndrome.

Thank you Stephan… just what we needed, us parents with the oldest kid just off to college… :) :) :)

Both my boys never came home again after freshman move-in day. Summer jobs/classes at UW-Madison seemed to beat boring summers in MN.
