Mumbles: “I know why [the] building blew up.” “Sterling wanted money of his own. He planned to see horse races in the future.” “Guess it didn’t work.”
So how does Mumbles know this if Sterling’s intent was to get something on the side for himself ?  Might Mumbles be suspected as a co conspirator in a secret money grab ?
Will we learn how Mumbles can be back? He was apparently whisked away from our plane of reality by Punjab. Now, in the same storyline where he’s back, we also see the return of Annie characters.
It still doesn’t make sense to me, why going to the future is any less dangerous than going to the past.
Someone else said it best yesterday: It’s either so dangerous it can’t be done at all, or totally useless in that, it’s being done all the time – and no one even notices it.
3-RATFACE: Why didn’t you tell me you were dating Mushmouth?
SUKIE: What the…is that what he said? OH!! NOW I know what “wona go steddy?” meant! I thought he said “Want to go study?” I guess I shouldn’t have just answered “Sure, whatever”.
How is it Briar Rose is much less appealing today than before? Could it be that stogie? I’ve often said that there’s nothing worse than seeing a woman who’s caught my eye lighting up. Cigarette or, worse yet, cigar, are both ugly habits IMHO.
When I read that Staton was leaving, and that Daddy Warbucks was about to appear, I was apprehensive. I feared that the ongoing story was about to end, with way too many threads left untied. And I was afraid that I wouldn’t like the art as well. I’m happy to say that I was dead wrong on both counts! The art continues to be wonderful, and the story continues. All praise to the creative team! (I’ll still miss Staton inking himself on Sundays, but I’m pretty sure that I’ll be in the minority there, given how many people used to bitch about the Sunday art.)
Gotcha, Mumbles! (Thanks, Ace, but we really do unnastndim.) Not so sure if puffing Briar understood him, or if she is just bemused, but that cocked eyebrow (panel 3) is conveying some message!
Mumbles has the general idea, but it was not horse racing but rather the lottery that the late but not much lamented Sterling Eliot was grabbing for when he overran the limitations of Diet’s Time Drone and blew the building (or buildings?) to smithereens (what other kind of -reens would you expect at Diet’s campus, hmm?)….

Guess all it takes to be management in the Apparatus is to be a Marlboro man or woman.

It would have been more efficient to get the winning numbers in a big lottery drawing.

The Apparatus probably wishes they had an interpreter to translate what Mumbles says.

Ms. Rose has that look on her face where says, where did they get this guy from?

If Mumbles were to have a son, his name would be Grumbles. Those father and son moments might be priceless.

My apologies for my absence.Computer repairman locked me out and “Mr.Luddite” took 3 days to figure out how to get back in.
I understand what Mumbles is saying, but Stephen Hawking and ALbert Einstein want him to repeat it.
