Hey, it makes noise when the “kill” it. That’s what’s important to them. I remember seeing a plastic cat toy that looked and sounded like a paper grocery bag, but lasted much longer.
This crinkly paper is brown and features raggedy edges! It makes a crinkly sound and provides pouncing fun, for hours! Crinkly paper, brought to you by the Mail Person and, The Frustrated Owner! Back to you Puck!
Puckmosis: Time once again to play “Let’s Come to a Mutually Agreeable Pact”! Our first contestant is our resident artist, Sophititi!
Sophititi: Thank you, Puckmosis.
Puckmosis: Soph, do you want to take the box full of broken pottery, or the exquisite scroll?
Sophititi: Ooh! I want to make a new mosaic. Definitely the pottery.
Puckmosis: Great choice! And you will be happy to know that this pottery was smashed by none other than our own Lupinium! Now for our next contestant. Beatrixia! Do you want this priceless ruby, or this length of torn fabric?
Bea: I need a new climbing curtain! I’ll take the fabric!
Puckmosis: Once again, a great choice! Now up are the Royal Procurers!
Alice-Ata: Whatever it is, we’ll take it all!
Puckmosis: And there you have it! Thank you all for playing!
Woman, give them time to have fun with the crinkly paper and the box. Just place the carboard ski lodge nearby and when they’re ready, the BCN gang will enjoy it.
I could totally copy and paste my comment from yesterday here, and it’d still totally work. And I suspect that’s going to be the theme for most of the rest of the week too. :P
Comfy furniture. Comfy cat bed. Comfy carpeted cat tower. Russel sleeps on our metal spiral staircase (to the constant annoyance of my daughter) and on a reusable shopping bag in a small carboard box that’s on it’s side on my model bench.
In the cat-boring winter, I take long strips of that brown packing paper and pile them up into “indoor bushes”. I think the crinkling sound reminds cats of the rustling of prey in dry leaves. They love to hide inside and ambush me when I walk by. I have to pretend not to see them skulking or its spoils the surprise. :)
Calendar News from Georgia: “I have been getting many, many, MANY questions about the 2022 BCN calendar! Number one question, “Georgia… Will there BE a 2022 calendar?” First of all, thank you for asking!! Second, YES! I am still wrapping it up, this morning I am inking and painting this page for October! I hope very much to have it all submitted by tonight and hopefully approved and in the Zazzle shop by this weekend! I’m sorry for the last minute scramble. Time is a big crunch for me with two little children to care for and the comic to write. It is a fun a scramble, but a scramble all the same! The good news: I’m on track to be 2-3 weeks earlier than last year! Hopefully I can keep that momentum going and be a little earlier next year. In my defense, wasn’t New Year’s Eve a couple of weeks ago?? This year flipped by in a FLASH! So… Stay tuned! I’ll keep everyone updated, I hope to have the calendar up in the Zazzle shop by this weekend! WISH ME LUCK!”
Does anyone out there remember the name of a coloring set that came out c. 1957 where you got pictures to color, and the colors were some kind of wet stick stuff (not felt markers, but not crayons either) that came in a plastic tube sealed at both ends? Heck, maybe it was called Color Sticks but I just can’t remember. You had to cut one end off the tube and squeeze the color stick out while holding it by the plastic to keep the ink or whatever off your hands. It wasn’t a color by number thing. I remember one of the pictures that came with it was of parrots. I begged for the thing for Christmas, but was too little at the time to color inside the lines (or keep my hands clean) so my sister, who would have been about 13 then, took it. Yeah, I’m still mad ; )
Now the question is, what will Lupin choose? What is left to choose? And is Puck trying to ensure he gets the ski lodge scratcher? Maybe he’s already checked it out and discovered that while it’s huge on the outside, it’s tiny on the inside.
Well, this is interesting. For ages, if I use the links from the About page, I have been able to see the first page of Georgia’s FB page without logging in (and sometimes the photo page) but was unable to see anything but the logon page on Insta. Suddenly this evening, I cannot see FB without logging in but when I tried Insta, I could see a whole page of photos, no comment, but at least the photos. I have no clue why. And I still refuse to become a member of either one so I don’t know how this will go in future.

Woman, how long have you had cats? Why are you asking, “Why?” You already know the answer: “Because . . . cat!”

Ok, so far we have the box and the crinkly packing paper. What’s left for Lupin and Puck? Will they be stuck with the fancy ski lodge cat scratcher?

Or styrofoam packing peanuts (what we call “albino caterpillars”).

This is why you shouldn’t buy expensive things for your cats. They aren’t even going to use them.
