Hubby’s “baby brother” had no use for women, and I was no exception. I was standing on their back porch, holding a basketball, when the kid demanded I give it to him. I tossed it toward the basket, and for the first time in my life, the ball went through the hoop! The boy was astounded -so was I! – and was a lot nicer to me after that.
All of my Mom’s sisters grew up on a farm and were on organized softball teams in the 30’s and 40’s. They were fun to play with at family picnics…and all their kids, boys and girls, became good athletes.
Friend of mine says she only ever plays games “for fun”… but she HATES losing and is one of the most competitive people I know. (found that out the 1st time we played pool and she said she barely knew how to play… before running the table on me.)
When in the last 45 years did they start calling a basketball hoop a goal? I never heard of it being called that until yesterday’s strip, but it’s a long time since I’ve spent much time in the company of people with a lot to say about basketball.

I was smart enough not to try it again.

I love to hear stories of kids playing outdoors. Good for Meg for not succumbing to electronics.
