Honestly, today ( and quite often ) every single panel is a fully realized cartoon in and of itself. I admire and appreciate Mr. Henry’s respect for his characters and for his readers so to consistently deliver such beauty and comedy
Panel One can some day serve as the cover of their debut album Crabby Road.
Similar story: one time while visiting a big city (New York City, in this case) I made the mistake of giving a small piece of my sandwich to a pigeon. Next thing I knew, the pigeon flew up and literally stood ON THE SANDWICH IN MY HAND to eat more easily. It was a rude introduction to city pigeons.
On a docked boat we would soak bread in hot sauce and throw it to watch the seagulls catch it. LOL! Joke was on us as birds don’t feel the effects of hot sauce!!
This is pure gold! So much to appreciate and laugh at. Amelia’s “foresaken” line, Rose’s duck and cover routine (well practiced), and the seagull with the empty chip bag on his head.
How many times have I remarked in the comments on this strip that I once saw a herring gull fly away with a large open bag of potato chips that beachgoers had left on their towel? It was the greatest thing ever.
In panel 4, note how the gulls’ bodies overlap with their graak balloons. One of them is almost hidden just left of center. And the one in the lower left has an umlaut. Great drawing, and perfect rendition of a flock of gulls!
I wish to protest in the strongest of terms, the continued use of the word Radishes as an expression of disdain. Mr. Henry – please cease and desist. Sincerely: WCRAFT, president of Radish Lovers International; Antarctic Chapter.
I was at a pier open patio café . it had a sign that said do not take food off the patio. Watched this guy walk off with his fries. Instantly swarmed by the gulls
Something similar happenee to me once. I was outside one day and found I was underneath a flock of starlings. (Had to stop twice because I couldn’t remember how to spell flock or starling.)

Is that a little crab that Spud tripped on? It told him to watch it! I wonder how long it took to draw all those seagulls.

The fourth panel took quite a bit of effort. Well done Mr. Henry!

Amelia is regretting her life choices. That is, those choices that led to her not wearing hats or protective hoodies.

When you’re in the mood to draw a LOT of seagulls… For all the seagull fans in this strip, this one’s for you.

This is so realistic, too. Anything on the ground is fair game to a seagull. And sometimes, the brave ones, won’t even wait that long.
