Suspect #4, also came to get money. In this case, she says that the possibility of a loan was H.K.‘s idea. There is no indication of whether Midge is or is not part of the reason for the divorce. Strangely, she doesn’t own a coat, although she seems to have pretty fancy stockings. Again, I can’t really see how it would be advantageous to her for H.K. to be dead.
A-HAAA! It’s suddenly so clear! Yes indeedy! The killer is veteran comics busybody Mary Worth! Jealous of not rating a cameo and lacking the crime-solving prowess of Jessica Fletcher, she saw her chances of replacing Tracy for this tale hit bottom. She promptly ran amok! Will the body count now suddenly skyrocket before she makes her high-speed escape in her machine-gun equipped racing Yugo with the tasteful paisley seat covers? And now…you know the rest of the convoluted and possibly slightly inaccurate story! Good day.
She’s dressed pretty sharply for someone down on her luck. I mean, look at those shoes! I won’t discount her wanting to look her most professional when asking for a loan, but you can afford heals like that but don’t own a coat? You can literally find them at any Goodwill. They might not be stylish, but it’ll keep you warm.
Looking back on the coatrack scene, there appear to be three coats, a man’s, a woman’s fur coat, and a black one in back. HK would have his there. The mystery man’s is coat on top of the woman’s coat. That means the woman got their before the man (presumably Piston Puss as the other man is very short and the coat is too long for him.) Hhmmm. I think one of the women did it but don’t know which.
the only one so far to have a motive for him being dead is the missus. The rest need him alive to get money, unless they’re lying.
And what of the fur coat in the rack? Why wear it in and take it off if its cold? Why not put it back on? If it’s there unclaimed, why doesn’t Midge here borrow it to get warm? She seems well enough dressed otherwise. Even people who are down on their luck tend to have stuff from when they weren’t as down on their luck. She seems to be in well enough circles that she knows H.K. This is anything but a real-life scenario. This is a crime scene to be processed and each of these folks would be questioned downtown separately. The coroner’s report would give us something else. That said, although the missus has the motive, she wouldn’t say so if she were guilty. I think Midge here is pretty suspicious right now (though no one is off the table).
Oh geez, the old stupid movie/tv show ridiculous, “someone was in freezing weather with no coat or got soaked in cold weather and immediately starts sneezing”. Because that’s how viruses travel.

So far two people didn’t enter the building with coats. In P2, she looks a bit pigeon toed, but I don’t see how that’s a clue.

Can you hear those dits and dahs? It’s the sound of the plot device being telegraphed.

Comment totals dropping steadily all week— will Tracy solve the case before he’s killed in the ratings?

Three coats, only two owning up. Who ever owns the fur coat did it. I’m suspecting the soon-to-be ex.

First of all…sneezing and getting a cold by being in the cold is a “wive’s tale.” Not too medically accurate.
