Around here, these days, I’m usually dressed two layers deep (not counting tee shirt). And I always keep the stuff I will want in the pockets of the vest, because the jacket ends up hanging from a hook in some other room.
The downside is that as soon as the temperature rises, I only wear t-shirts and shorts without deep pockets. So where to put my phone then? I really hate handbags.
I have to find a place to keep my phone between the time that I put my “kangaroo” (a suede coat that has 9 pockets) away for the summer, and when I get my cargo shorts out.
Walking this winter I found out that below 20C you’re better to just leave the phone at home. If you bring it out, either you keep it in a pocket in an under layer (can’t get to it easily) or you have it at hand in the outer layer where it freezes solid, I mean solid!
I have a little flip phone, technically not too sophisticated. And big pockets, which seem to have been the style for men my age. When the phone rings, I often have trouble getting it out of my pocket before the caller gives up. Phone design is such tht if one pushes the wrong button (easy to do if one has big pockets) it automatically hangs up.
One thing i discovered this Winter on the coldest days was putting my phone in an outside pocket made the battery drain faster. I wound up needing to keep it in a more inconvenient but warmer inner pocket. (Yes the bsttery is on its last legs.)

A phone pocket is never in the safest, handiest place.

At a hefty 14oz, my phone is always in the side of the jacket that drags the ground. No trouble at all to find it.

Looks like me patting myself down before I leave the house. Let’s see – wallet, phone, pocket knife, pen, keys, etc.

Who puts their phone in a different place every time? I’d be constantly freaking out if I tried that.

Truth. Two pockets on my flannel shirt, 6 pockets on my pants, two on my flannel jacket, five on my windbreaker.

Each layer = 1 level of padding for the phone to hide behind

My understanding is that women’s clothes for some bizarre reason come without pockets, so I have no idea how they deal with this.
