(Take it, Sebastian!) Arctic gets hotter, ice becomes water, oceans go higher, coasts become dire, inland waters flow, as our cities go, Under the Sea!
Climate change has been happening about 3.5 billion years. Current geological rise in the oceans has been going on for the last 20,000 years since the end of the last glaciation. There was dramatic increase for about 10-12 thousand years then it slowed. The rise has been slow but steady for about 8,000 years and has not increased significantly in recent times. Do a search for sunken cities.
The Mayor of New York City saw the water rising and he panicked. The Mayor of San Francisco saw the water rising and she panicked. The Mayor of New Orleans saw the fish swimming by his desk and said “My, it surely is humid today!”
Ya know, the last time i saw a merperson in a bar, it was a Merman and it was down in the Keys. Some guy named Stonebender owned the place. Weirdest bar i ever hung out at. This girl kept popping in and out of sight, without apparently moving, a cat came in through the wall, and I swear I heard a German Shepherd (a dog, not a sheepherder from Germany) debating with a woman about the merits of interspecies relationships.
As long as stepping down from that stool doesn’t make your feet wet you may just as well order another beer. And maybe order a Bud Light or similar water for the fluke… lady.
The rate of sea level change has not changed over millenia. There is no man made impact causing sea levels to rise any faster than they already were. Florida was largely underwater in previous interglacial periods (in between ice ages). Florida was markedly wider during ice ages. We are about 19,000 years since our last ice age ended. Hence we have some rising sea levels. But making making “decarbonize” the economy won’t help that. It will help enslave man and create more poverty death and destruction however. It will also create an even more powerful elite .
Something puzzles me. I know Climate Change is real. But, if the situation is as dire as the elitists are proclaiming, why do they continue buying expensive seafront properties and flying around the world on carbon-heavy personal jets?

Sometimes she even looks kind of nice.

One might expect her to feel like a fish out of water, but this is clearly not the case.

What’s so strange about sitting in a bar and seeing a mermaid after three or four drinks? Then after a few more ask “Wanna Dance?”

Obviously, not a bar in Florida where “climate change,” “global warming,” “gay” and “slavery” are forbidden speech.

I had a dream about a mermaid once. It was a truly wet dream. Napping in a wading pool is rarely a good idea.

I wouldn’t be worrying about climate change. I’d be worrying about what the bartender slipped into my drink. Nice hallucination, though.

if she’s from the sea, she’ll probably want sea water, but then again, maybe non-sea water is alcoholic to their system

No, no – as we all know, mermaids transform into two-legged maidens when they are on land.
And they are always looking for a good stiff drink.
