We have discovered that Spouse’s finger doesn’t seem to trigger some touch-screens unless it’s moister than its natural state. So bad that sometimes she hands me her tablet and tells me to press the button or scroll the page or whatever. Weird.
The reverse is kind of amusing too: like the day I touched a word in the book I was reading to look it up in the online dictionary and then realized after no response from the second tap that I was reading a paper book.
I never give it a thought to use kindle in bed to read. I do have one, paperbacks, and hard back books. For me bed is time to go to sleep not for reading. Also for me I am having to get used for a while to sleep on my back and that has been difficult, I have a reason for that.
Husband and I have gone to e-books, very convenient. Unfortunately we have our old favorite paper books on shelves all over our house and in a storage building. Something that will arouse comment from the next generation, I’m sure.
That habit is positively revolting to me. Do not extend your hand to shake mine afterwards. Same when cashiers lick their fingers to more easily open the plastic bags. Yes, I have asked cashiers to not do that and called stores to complain about it.
My mother used to sit at the PC at night when she couldn’t sleep. No matter how many times Dad and I tried to explain it, she never figured out that to get rid of a page you had to click on the X. She kept minimizing each page so that the next day one of us would sit there and close them all.

I don’t need to lick my finger on a real book either.

Works both ways. I’ve sometimes the reflex to look at the top of my book to check the time.

Dry skin will do that. Mine was dry enough that I could touch electric wires with no shocking.

It took a young girl on one of my airplane flights that told me you do not have to swipe to take my phone in and out of airplane mode, just touch it!

Opal so nice of you to read in bed and keep Earl awake ;-)
joe piglet Premium Member almost 3 years ago
Wow, must be the end of the month, Opal does something stupid one day a month. Earl takes the licking every other day.

I dislike the plastic bags at the self checkouts. I can’t get the bags open to put the products in.

One of the most troublesome aspects of wearing a mask, you can’t moisten your finger to turn a page.

Old habits die hard. This comment was probably already been posted here. But it is the truth. :-)

My bride does the same thing when looking at pics on her phone.
wiatr almost 3 years ago
I’ve never done that to a book. So far I haven’t done it to a kindle either but I don’t own one. I prefer to read naturally – on paper. ;)

I was really hoping that finger licking would be 1 of the revolting habits people would think twice about and stop doing because of covid
