The opposite of Dunning-Kruger syndrome. The more you know, the more you know how much you STILL don’t know!

Had the same Principal at two different schools. Even as a sixth grader I never considered what background education he might have had. But as a Principal he was strict about rules, but fair in their application, at least in my mind. If there was no damage done and you had a reasonable explanation for why you broke them there were no severe repercussions. Your parents would be notified, no getting out of that. It was made clear why the rule was in place and that there had better not be a second violation. But he treated you with respect, the same as he did the adults, and for the most part all the kids showed him respect as well.

Did he know that he would be using all of that knowledge just to corral a bunch of know-it-all nine year-olds?

I would be severely surprised if any the “experts” weighing in here on the interrelationship between faculty pay, faculty education levels, and student education has spent 1 second working in education (you know – how you’d have a clue about it?).

Or even reading a book since high school.

God, grant me the humility to know the things I cannot know, the learning to know the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

When I earned my PhD, I was pretty convinced I didn’t know much. When I earned my second doctorate, I knew even less.
