I’ve got a low sturdy old Rubbermade wheelbarrow that can be tipped forward to slide heavy objects into it and then I can pull them where ever they need to be. I’ve moved some pretty heavy rocks and root balls that way.
In the last panel, Elly looks just like the Poor Pitiful Pearl dolls sold in the Sears Christmas catalog in the early 60’s. Look her up to compare Elly to the doll.
I know maybe the kids wagons of today are probably not built for weights and abuse that was normal of yesteryear. I remember doing about the same as Elizabeth suggested with my kids old Hedstom Union toy wagon. It was rough pulling due to wheels not large enough for grassy area, but it did make the trip and still was serviceable for the kids and other details.
If the Teenager, who is at least 16, and who appears tobe in reasonable shape, cannot lift THAT tree and sod, without his mother, then they had better take him to a doctor.

If it’s really that heavy, the wagon’s not going to handle it.

The wheels of the wagon go round and round.
And will sink three or four inches into the ground. Thus leaving deep wheel ruts in the back yard.

How did Elly get Mike to help??
And would a tree that small actually be so heavy??
Frog-on-a-Log Premium Member about 2 years ago
From the looks of that wagon, it would have collapsed under that weight.

Good thinking, Liz! You were good to put egg on their faces since they didn’t think of this.

Never interrupt progress with a good idea. It spoils the vision of hindsight.

Don’t you hate it when someone points out the obvious solution and you realize your old forgettery was working again?

Just get a hand truck with fat tires. I’d be lost without mine, moving bags of mulch to the backyard

It’s a wonder that neither Mike or Ely noticed Liz was towing a wagon. Too bad Liz didn’t speak up sooner. She couldn’t been the heroine of the day.

There could be a fifth panel to this strip, where the wagon is broken and the tree has fallen, with soil spilling out of the bag.

They wonder why they did not think of that. Even a wheelbarrow would help.
