Standing like a statue (being still) may work okay to not get stung by a bee or wasp. Deterring Mosquitos and No-see-ums – not so much (Since they may be attracted to body heat and carbon dioxide they we give off, maybe try holding your breath.)
There are lots of insects they fly around me while my dog and I are walking through the woods in our daily walk. It happens especially when it is hot and humid. I usually use a small cluster of leaves on a small branch I find on the ground to fan them away,

If he behaves like a statue for too long, he’ll attract pigeons instead of bugs.

You know that they are just going to call their friends.

Some flies gather around the highest point they can. Wearing a tall hat will keep them out of your face. With some other flies, a shower would help.

Would you rather be bothered by bugs or by pigeons (and what they’ll do to you)?

If you stay still long enough, you will die, then the bugs will swarm you until there is nothing left.
Then the bugs will leave you alone.

Step 1. Find a frog.
Step 2. Put frog on head.
Step 3. Put frog back in pond when the fries are gone.
Repeat as needed.

Those reverse fans with blue lights and collection bags work really well, but when dragonflies fly in, they get chopped up! Gross!
