Darryl with too small glasses creeps me out. Like I get he was supposed to be younger but we’ve seen him younger. He has the same glasses. This is weird.
The second panel does not depict something Zoe would be doing as she’s too classy for that. putting a napkin on the head and blowing one’s nose with a napkin still in the dispenser is a Hammie thing. Zoe how ever, is likely to make faces at another kid that makes a face at her.
We knew we would get the “Mom look” if we acted up in a restaurant, so we didn’t. Besides, it was really a rare treat to go to a nice restaurant- we dressed up, too.
It’s a little know fact that the McDonalds didn’t actually invent the Happy Meal. The Happy Meal was the creation of nice sit-down restaurants so that parents with little kids could grab food and take it home instead of bringing their children to a nice place to eat.
When my family with 3 kids (like the strip) went to a restaurant (rarely) they always seated us far away as possible from the rest of the customers. I didn’t then, but now I realize why they did this.
I suppose it might be true to life, this kind of illustration for the laughs, in some instances.
In our own real life situation, we let our kids know ahead of time where we were going and how they were expected to behave. It’s all part of responsible parenting. I remember just now, how the server looked frazzled when she came to our table, and how she warmed up to the kids, when she realized that they were trying to be on their best behavior. By the end she was their best friend.
Responsible parents practice table manners at home and don’t take their little ones out in public until they have mastered them. There’s always take-out and kid-friendly places in the meantime.
People always talk about the joys of raising a family, but after watching what others have gone through, I’m just not seeing it. I’m sure my parents would attest to that.

Well technically it’s the same thing except one drink has not been sitting in the cellar since 1972.

3 noisy kids may make you MORE tempted to hit the wine list.
But most of the time, you’re driving home.

Juice Boxes!!! I hate them. They were banned from our house and especially the car. What a messy invention.
