As Mom used to say. “Kids, close the door we can’t afford to heat the outside”. Or, “Stop standing there with the Door Open. It’s Not Summer anymore.”
Oh look what the wind blew by. A smurf doll on a parachute. This is a sentimental time capsule. Smurfs were big in the 80s. No pun intended. But by 1990 they were cancelled. By 1993 they were literally gone, blowing in the wind.
The cost of having kids in the house. My grandkids come in the front door and out the back leaving both open. You have to get up and close them. In 2 min. it happens again.
Okay, while I absolutely understand her dismay, it would rather it be cold than hot. At least she can put on some warm clothes and be comfortable. Winter FTW.
The panel with Farley reminded me of our dog on rainy or snowy days:
She would signal that she needs to go outside, and then if she felt a drop of rain or snow on her face, she would stand there deciding if she really, really needs to go outside, and then back out…
She might do that two or three times, and finally rush out and be done in minutes, whereas on nice days she took her time outside and smell the whole garden…
This is why I insisted on a house with a vestibule. Makes a nice place to store all your outdoor gear and keeps the rest of the house warm or cool. Real estate agent said it was not the oddest request she has ever had but we did make the list.
I can relate to this one. One of my patio doors is always open during the day for the cats to go in and out at will. When the wind is blowing as it is right now, I cannot keep the door into the hallway open. The wind blows it shut. Even a heavy doorstop doesn’t work.

Who are the people Elizabeth is greeting in Panel 4? They don’t appear to be in her regular group of friends.

Cold outside air has no humidity and makes the inside air dryer and feel colder.

The door to my doctor’s office says “Keep this door closed at all times.” So I gave up and went home.

If she sees all the doors and windows left open, the house will heat up fast; from Elly’s red hot temper!

I wonder if heat pumps are any good at keeping the house warm. I know they save on gas, but if they don’t heat the house, I won’t bother

The way Elly spews hot air, you’d think the Patterson house wouldn’t need a furnace.

Don’t forget that we don’t run the A/C to cool the outside during the summer months, either!

And kids wonder why parents flip out when they try to warm up the house a bit.
