I have a huge patchwork quilt. It has about three layers of tops on it due to wear. When I added the last top I added one more layer of batting and a new back. It now weighs just short of the same as a diesel locomotive and is heaven to curl up in on a cold morning. Double so when the power is out.
On this November Saturday in southern New England, it’s already in the sixties and supposed to reach seventy. Nice in the short term, but just wrong for this time of year.
When I was just learning to sew at about 12 years old, Mom and I made a robe out of 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels for me. For a special treat, Mom would put it in the dryer while I was in the shower and then bring it to me as soon as I finished drying off. Wish I was still that old with Mom, Dad, Gramma, and my brother all at home together!
My Mother and I had a routine: I would sit on the sofa bed in the family room (which had a fireplace), She would bring in the laundry warm from the dryer, and let the towels rain down on me. I was cuddly warm while I folded the towels.
I tend to run cold. I always have a blanket on me if I am sitting at home, and I keep the thermostat higher than most people. I am in distress now because my gas fireplace is broken, and since it’s over 15 years old, it’s not worth repairing it. I need to find a company to install a new one. I couldn’t do that over the last two weeks because I had covid for a few days and I am still kind of tired from it. I wish my dog liked to sit on my lap, but she doesn’t. I am guessing no one held her on their lap when she was a puppy. I am her 4th home, I got her when she was almost 6 years old.

I guess that Wiz does not need any spells to do laundry.

I sort of thought that would be Henry’s job.

They should have Henry sitting by their feet keeping their feet and the room warm. That’s how I’d like my Saturdays. Yip yip yip yip yip

Now all you need are some hot drinks and a stack of books. Perfection!

Luxury is rarely underrated even if it is understated. …okay, that’s enough, I gotta pee.

Dressing from the dryer is one of winters few delights.

We’ve got about an inch of snow here in Kentucky. Very nice. Played with our grand daughter in the snow and had hot chocolate after.
