Today’s wonderful reprint reminds me of a strip reprinted last summer in which Calvin filled a water balloon and waited for someone to come but nobody came.
When I was a kid we lived across the street from a hillside that was undeveloped. It was covered with pine trees. One of the favorite games was Pine Cone War. We’d make forts out of branches that had fallen off and collect cones from the ground.
must be quite a rural town to not see very many kids with whom Calvin interacts aside from Susie Derkins (at school and in the neighborhood) and Moe (just school alone)

Yup – Progressives (Calvin – self appointed intellectuals) vs Liberals (Hobbes – self appointed chivalrous saviours) – a Lefty circular firing squad indeed!

LOL… Hobbes is so much Calvin’s alter ego! “Tigers add panache and savoir faire to any social occasion”… What a great line.
