Had a job interview once where they asked if I had a problem wearing a suit to work. Just the thing for crawling around in a server farm, eh? I said, “yes” and left.
I’m a freelance musician and occasionally get calls from the local orchestra. Maybe once every couple years. I gotta go out and buy another (used) tux every time, and it costs more than I make on the gig. I’ve got three or four of them in the closet. Something about that closet seems to shrink them. It’s a lousy business model, I know. Good thing I didn’t make my living in business.
bought a Fire Hose" sports coat from Duluth Trading Company a few years back, this year I got a pair of the Fire Hose jeans that match the coat – viola! A suit
But, now, shoes… When we went to get up and get dressed this morning husband was having trouble opening his closet door (regular standard cheap door with door knob – nothing fancy like a slider or 2 doors, etc). He finally gave it yank and we heard a horrible sound. We have our shoes on racks on the inside of the doors – his came down and jammed the door. Not surprising to me due to how many pairs of shoes he owns (about 3 times as many I do – mine are black dress shoes, 2 pairs of sneakers, reenacting shoes, and slipper’s.) plus the weight of them. Surprised the has not come down before (in around 30 years it has been up).
Had to go out and buy new hooks to put back on the inside of the door to put the rack back – somehow there was now a problem closing the door. His solution was to finally get rid of some of the older shoes that he never wears – for decades.
The good thing was since we were playing with his clothes anyway – he finally went through his top two dresser drawers and pulled out some clothing he never wears which I put in a suitcase that is stored in “The teddy bears’ room” so he can put the clothing he is actually wearing in the dresser instead of stacking the clothing he wears on top of a box on the top of the dresser and having stuff he has not worn for decades in the drawers. Been trying to get him to do this for a few years.

The only suit that fits anymore is the birthday suit, barely, and that looks baggy and badly in need of pressing.

I need to break down and get a new suit. I’ve had my old one, well, like forever.
