In the plus side, fewer and fewer kids WANT to drive these days. That is, more and more are waiting till college to get their licenses. Mine did. Probably has something to do with online presence.
Mom often takes the trouble to explain why she is saying “no” to Calvin. When she does, Calvin sometimes understands why she is saying “no” and may have learned something. This is one of the times when she doesn’t bother to explain why she is saying “no”.
Just as a side note I know people say Google doesn’t always tell the truth. Yes it won’t always but you can’t apply that factor everytime you disagree with Google. Just as an example for me just because images on Google show the bishop next to king and queen you can’t say Google lies that’s not true. Google will not always lie. Because it’s the bishops that are next to the king and queen not Knight’s. Just because Google revealed the theoretical possibility of time travel doesn’t mean it’s not true. It is. It’s been sort of proven through the space station and crap. All I’m saying is Google can also tell the truth.
When we lost the carkey back in the 50’s we could start the old lincoln with a wad of tinfoil pushed up into the key connections. As I recall you had to turn the key then push a button to start.
I worked as a Repo man for a string of used car lots back in the 70’s. Even in those days starting a car without the keys was a lot harder than they make it look on TV. I wouldn’t even want to try it with one of today’s computerized-everything cars.
Fortunately, modern cars have a lock-out feature which requires the key, except for Hyundai and Kia models. Those cars have become so commonly stolen and required so much policing time to recover that states are suing the manufacturer.
Walter “Pops” Holland: Known as “Pops”, Walter Holland claimed to be descended from Blackbeard. As proficient as he is at smuggling, this is is likely true. Originally a patent attorney, he hid his identity through the facade of “Calvin’s dad”. When the ruse was discovered, Pops turned tail and headed to New Bordeaux, Louisiana, taking his son in tow. Now the Marcano Crime Family has Pops smuggling anything he can get his hands on, art, car parts, electronics, you name it. It all goes on without a second look from Customs or the U.S. Coast Guard. He also told his son that there is no such thing as building character and bonded with his son by teaching him how to hotwire cars.
Calvin “Junior” Holland: A violent little tweaker obsessed with fast cars and tigers, “Junior” only got this job as his father vouched for him before the Marcano Crime Family. The fast paced world of the auto theft plays well into Calvin’s strengths. He is currently working a deal with a large number of high-end rides being stored in a warehouse. He has his pro car thieves Darrel Brand and Wayne Roussel working overtime to fill the orders, while runners keep busy delivering them around Tickfaw Harbor. If the drugs don’t kill Calvin, the way he handles a sports car might.

Calvin is so smart—couldn’t he predict Mom’s answer to his question? As well as her indifference to his even asking it??

Calvin, if you were in present day, just watch any Netflix action show. They all (including the popular Stranger Things) seem to include that trope.
