This comic reminded me of a MASH episode. The unit had a visit by the orphans who had gotten scratched up by briars during an air raid. Clinger’s young and cute protege typed grezunzick, or something like that, with proper spelling, no less.
In High School, 1979, my mother forced me, an awkward guy, to take typing, drills on a manual, AAA AAA GG GG A AG. We all looked forward to grade 10 for the electric Smith and Coronas, however at the time the Commodore PET came out with a word processor, that was for the grade 11 and 12s.
If you had infinite cats in a room typing on type writers then one would eventually write the entirety of the Garfield book selection e.g. Garfield2016
Garfield At Large: His First Book1980
Garfield Classics2002
Garfield Fat Cat 3-Pack #242022
Garfield Fat Cat 3-Pack #3: A Triple Helping of Classic GARFIELD Humor Vol 32007
I had to take typing in high school as a form of physical therapy for the RA, and as a class to make up for the PE I was exempt from. I managed to get to 78 wpm with no errors on the IBM Selectric. One of my class mates, A young lady was able to get to 180 or faster, NO Errors. If I remember correctly a time or two she typed faster than the machine could keep up. Now, I type about 20 wpm, with fewer than 8 to 10 mistakes!
never imagined when I took a typing class, just incase I needed to know how someday, that our main communication would become text! I thought, “they never taught me how to type with just my left hand during a PVP battle in a video game. Now that would be a handy skill”.
If Garfield keeps that up, in a million or so years he might have written the bible, chosen from Garfield’s occaisional legible word accumulating word by word by the bible-speakers til it is sorta complete, and that is only for the old testament…
I do about 34 words a minute. a friend of mine went to secretarial school and is annoyed at my speed considering I only use two fingers. I explained to her my degree is in history. that included 50 page research papers. I either learned to type or found a compliant girlfriend and never found a girl that compliant
