This is what a lot of people thought in the 70s. The previous generation had done most of the “heavy lifting” after World War II to get the economy running again. You could still scrape by on a part-time job, if you had to. You could “couch surf” for a few weeks if you lost your apartment. Things are much tougher today for people who “fall off” that ladder to success and the Great American Dream and it’s nobody’s fault but our own.
