College is denying Zipper’s right to vote because of his sex?

So Zipper is reaching for the Trump “try any BS defense”?

Zipper is about to go down!!!

Well, The Wolf in Your Midst called it – the college owns the computer.

For those who don’t remember: the 19th granted women the right to vote. The 26th brought the voting age down to 18, which seems SLIGHTLY more applicable to Zipper, but even then…

Okay, so clearly he’s learned something in college.

How is the 19th amendment going to help ? Thats about women being allowed to vote.

Not to mention the amendments giving women the right to vote, repealing Prohibition, and limiting the President to two terms??

What has women’s right to vote got to do with it?

Eh ? Amendment 19 gave women the right to vote (as late as 1920 !), but how will that help Zipper ?

In 2023 we have cops that don’t know the Constitution this well…and at least 1 senator that doesn’t know the 3 branches of government. Makes me miss the 90s (or so) when this strip was done.

The 19th gave women the full right to vote nationally. Furthermore, the BIll of Rights applies only to government.

The problem with “vintage” comic strips: These days there won’t be any evidence of a term-paper purchase, merely a random URL in his browser history that redirects to a ChatGPT (or one of its successors). Only a very savvy professor will be able to spot its errors if its on a technical topic. If it’s “creative writing”, all bets are off. What’s with the “bubbles” in the second frame? Suggestion of multiple key-clicks?

Well at least Zipper wasn’t threatening to use his “2nd Amendment rights “ on the cop.

19th and 26th amendments are about voting. he should have gone with the 21st amendment.

The 19th amendment is Women’s Right to Vote so I doubt this is being violated by the security search …

For those curious … the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution provides:“The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”

That is … women got the right to vote.

I suspect, like with most things, your constitutional rights don’t keep you from being arrested. They simply set you free afterwards and give you grounds for a multimillion dollar lawsuit. Comply your way to a payday.

They knew Zipper’s paper was original because it was titled“The Sex Life of the Tubercular Mayfly”.

What about the Third Amendment? He totally looks like he wants to quarter troops in your home without consent!

Women’s Right to Vote?

The cop, and the university, might have something with the university owning the computer and the network. If it were Zipper’s own computer and his own wifi connection to a network NOT owned/paid for by the university then this search would not have the justification. I would think that if the university owned the network it would be able to make such sites as Zipper is accused using unavailable on their network. As it is, we sent our girls to school with their own computers, pads and phones. Remember, anything used at work furnished by the employer is THEIRS and they have every right to do what ever they want with it. And be careful using your own device, phone, pad or computer while on company property using their network connection because they will pull this same crap on you.

I personally am fond of the most underused of all Constitutional amendments, the 9th. When James Madison was drafting the Bill of Rights, a number of the other founders expressed reservations, thinking that later citizens would inevitably make the case that those were the ONLY rights being protected; that if a specific right wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the Constitution, then it didn’t exist and could be infringed, suppressed, penalized, etc.

Madison addressed this concern with the 9th Amendment, which made it clear where the balance of power was supposed to lie if such a claim were ever raised: “The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”

I wish Roe v. Wade had been built atop that one.

Had to refresh my memory on the 19th. It wasn’t the repeal of Prohibition. It doesn’t seem like a valid defense in this case.

Should’ve claimed it was a 3rd amendment violation, Zipper. No one ever remembers what the 3rd amendment is about.

Amendments mentioned:

1st: Freedom of press, speech, religion, peaceful assembly, and right to petition

4th: Protection against unreasonable search and seizure.

5th: Grand Jury; protection against double jeopardy, self incrimination; due process, protection of taking private property without compensation

6th: Right to speedy trial, trial by jury, confront witnesses, counsel

7th: Right to jury in civil cases

8th: Prohibits against excessive fines, excessive bail, cruel and unusual punshments

9th: Non-enumerated rights

14th: The 14th amendment has 5 sections. It deals with equal protection under the law, citizenship, representation, and public debt.

19th: Women’s right to vote

21st: Repeal of prohibition

He knows the Constitution, but can’t be bothered to write a term paper?

so…the college is allowed to search Zipper’s computer, as long as women can freely vote?
