How long are the commercial breaks lasting? Sometimes they are long enough to prepare a warm meal for two, some are so short that you miss entire scenes when you just take a very quick leak.
In the last panel I am pretty sure I know what Arlo’s carried out with him. Judging by the cap color and rough shape of the bottle I’d say Arlo has some Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts, not a bad choice.
We watch TV in the kitchen. Did not have a living room TV that had cable (no antenna either) until a year ago when he decided he needed a (small) big TV and bought one for his birthday.
We are major movie buffs, but since the start of Covid have gone to the movies (used to go at least weekly since first date in Nov 1973). This was his solution until we feel comfortable going back to the movies.
I cannot watch the set as these types of TVs are too bright for my eyes – he had promised me (and he believed) that there was a special brightness setting for stores to use when displaying and one turns that off when one has it home. So I watch TV with anti-glare glasses on. Our living room was decorated faux- 18th century colonial (by him) and until this TV came along – other than Christmas decorations I could not put anything in the room after the end of the 1700s in style. Now there is a large Parsons type table over the blanket chest he made* to hold his TV. Entire look of the room is gone. Windows on back wall are blacked out with black sheets so he can watch on Sunday afternoons also. If I had suggested something like this – never would have happened.
*He made a piece of furniture which looks like a blanket chest, but instead of the top lifting up, one pulls on the “key” on the front and the front drops down. There are 3 drawers in it for hidden DVD storage. It is also on hidden wheels as before his TV addition to the room we would push the box to the dining room for room for the Christmas tree each year. It is a lovely piece though.

He’s getting quite a bit of exercise making all those runs to the kitchen, though.

I’m amazed anyone would tolerate viewing anything interrupted by commercials, in this day & age.

Isn’t that what commercials are for, to get people to consume things?
DawnQuinn1 over 1 year ago
Most networks allow you to pause a live show.

That last “snack” sure looks like a Tums® bottle……

If the commercial breaks weren’t so long, Arlo wouldn’t have time to snack so much!

Today commercial breaks leave you time for a leisurely four.

Well one can put vending style snack machines near the tv and plus the outhouse too.

Is it all the getting up and running to the kitchen or all the junk food or both?

The last time I watched cable, they had ten minutes of commercials between each seven minutes of program.

Commercial breaks that last long enough to get two snacks are what will terminate you.
