In every job I’ve ever seen when someone is getting laid off, they’ve always been told to leave right there and then, not being allowed to hang around until the end of the month.
I just want to say that even though Ely was a part-timer, she still has a job. And she still lost that job, so yes she should be upset. In a small sense, she should be somewhat lucky she has a month left to do what she needs to do because if it was anybody else they could have been fired on the spot. But don’t say that it shouldn’t really matter to her because she’s a part-timer.
I’ll never forget the time I worked so well with a company that I literally worked myself out of the job! I DID get a fantastic letter of recommendation out of it, tho.
Yeah, sure. It’s time to start an online business, Elly and join all the others who find much joy and pleasure of working from home! That way you won’t have to deal with the frustration and aggravation of Donald Trump’s old motto: “Elly, you’re FIRED!” LOL!!
Ellie, the end of the first fiscal quarter always brings unexpected news. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. It’s a time when government entities must revise their budgeting estimates to meet the reality of the situation. It’s not you Ellie, it’s just the way that government works.
Elly is probably also wondering what happened to the 1950s, which was the most prosperous era in the history of North America. People worked at good jobs, were they stayed until they were eligible for retirement.
It appears she received a one month’s notice. Which is more that most people get. A lot of employers will pay you the Notice and maybe a small separation to get you out the door.
I was working for a small company when Covid hit, and the whole branch was closed, around 50 people. I could have stayed 2 more weeks but left immediately. Time to move on
I know they said she could stay on another month, but between working on projects that will inevitably be canceled and the fact that they clearly just don’t value her, there seems to be no point. Except of course one more paycheck; but to that end I wonder if she can just call in sick?
Elly’s in shell shock mode. Of course, she’s taking in so well,,,for the walking dead, that is. That librarian shouldn’t remind her that’s she being let go even if she means well. To Elly, it’s another “after shock”.

He gets fired.

When a department store Santa loses his job, does he get the sack?
Do human cannonballs get fired?
Do pirates get told to sling their hook’s?
Do prostitutes get laid off?
Do trapeze artists get let go?
