I hope Mom gave Hobbes a spin in the dryer before sat down near the window.

Ahh, rainy days!

A mother’s job is never done.

Perfect strip for those of us on the Mid-Atlantic coast this weekend, being soaked by tropical storm Ophelia.

At least Mom is considerate enough to bring Hobbes in out of the rain.

I’m reminded to a TV commercial for a line of kids’ outer wear that depicted a mother literally pushing her son out the front door in all kinds of weather.

I wonder if that company received complaints about that ad. In any case, I’m glad it’s not being aired any more.

As much as i love Calvin & Hobbes this one is really special.

Simply put, this is one of the sweetest Calvin and Hobbes I’ve ever seen.

Moms are great!

Each panel a gem. Each one frame worthy.

Weather looks like Fri. Sat, and today in central VA. Mopey doesn’t describe the feeling one gets looking out the window at a yard with an inch or more of rain.

How sweet!

Being partial to Hobbes, I think my favorite is that last panel!

I hope Hobbes was tossed in the dryer…that stuffed animal cat smell is pungent.

There is something deeply endearing about that… and deeply male.

I remember my mom dressing me up like Calvin. I think I had the exact same outfit.

That’s one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen.

Don’t just LIKE this comic, I ADORE it. I wish Calvin and Hobbes would come back. <3

Now I’m imaging mom throwing Hobbes at Calvin all those times he gets tackled coming home.

It doesn’t get better than this.

Watterson was the master of wordless strips. And where I live, we are starting to get rain as fall starts. I know their feeling of such days being dreadful.

Love love love it! Tho personally if I was forced to be inside all day, I’d rather it be raining out so that I wouldn’t feel so resentful for being stuck inside.

What a poignant comic! I love it.

Love how the perspective changes back to “real” Hobbes looking out the window in the last panel. (I know it’s actually imaginary Hobbes but we all know that’s the real one!)

A very warm cartoon. Watterson was a genius.

Why is Calvin in school on a Sunday?

I’ll say it over and over, there is nothing better than Bill Watterson’s magnificent art on a Sunday morning.

Any school that won’t allow me to bring my best buddy is not a school I would attend

Personally, I like rain. Not all the time, but if I don’t have to go anywhere, listening to it and watching it is very comforting.

Very nostalgic for a big bowl of cereal, buttered toast and ’today’s’ paper for breakfast. I might settle for reading the back of the cereal box… again. All with the scent and sound of coffee bubbling in the percolator.

Always love the C&H dynamic.

They’re looking to the right for the bus. Calvin must have to cross the street to get it.

Watterson was a master at saying so much without saying anything at all. I love the use of the window here as it appears 4 times. Each getting a turn looking out of it in both worry and anticipation.

Even as an adult, it’s still kind of like that on rainy weekday mornings, except rather than a school bus, I drive myself to work. I also love that atmospheric coloring of the outdoor shots.

How dark!
