A fresh haircut (done without a wash and styling) always looks awkward, or ridiculous. It needs time to relax and let the hairs reassert themselves. :)
Y’know, I wish that I could have dressed like Liz and her friends do when I was in school (in the 1950’s). I was (and still am) more comfortable in pants than skirts. I think most women feel the same way.
The strangest part about this is the complete lack of empathy from Dawn who did the same thing a little over a year ago with her new haircut. After all, Dawn has the same haircut with it changed a little.
A contributing factor is that you aren’t wearing that puke ugly pink t-shirt any longer, but are in a better looking blue shirt with black farm coveralls. Blondes always look better in blues and black.
Maybe if Liz wears clothes that are a little less childish (like the overalls she’s wearing) or gets contact lenses, she’ll look a little more “grown up,” which is what most 9th grade girls want!
Personally, viewing things from my point of view, while Elizabeth didn’t look bad originally, she has improved herself with the haircut. She might even attract some male attention ! ! !
There is a high school near here that has the class pictures on the wall of every graduating class since the school opened a century ago. Lizzie’s new look would be a perfect fit there. For the class of 1938.
My hair never looks good on the day it’s cut. My hairdresser styles it the way she wants.. then I go home, re-wet it and style it the way I want. Much easier than trying to tell her, again, how I want it. At least the cut is (mostly) ok. :D
Sometimes you just need your hair to “settle” after a cut! My cowlick comes out immediately after mine settles, so CHOP CHOP CHOP!!! (My skull is deformed from a double craniotomy in my early 20’s.)
It was odd that the person who cut her hair just cut it and let her cry. Why did she not comb it or do anything to show her what she could do with it? Granted, I know hairstyling, if involved does sometimes cost extra.

True and funny at the same time, good one!

You just need a friend to tell you your hair is cute. Family members opinions don’t matter.

It looks like she gave it a bit of curl and combed her bangs back some and it does look better.

Can anyone else feel it? Liz is now in high school. She got the haircut. April is talking…. I don’t think I can take Farley’s death again.

It grows back. If you think it’s too short, it should look a little better every day.

I still don’t see how the cut we saw the other day could be “combed” to this style. It isn’t layered or undercut so how did she get the curve?

She still looks a lot younger than 13, which was the whole point of cutting her hair.

Again, the stylist should have shown her this.
