Things like that can keep me awake for as long as 15 or 20 seconds.

My preferred trick, such as it is, is to write a post it note to the toilet seat. You know you’ll be there sooner or later and it’s in your face. That’s assuming the lid is down.

When I think of something that I’ll need to remember the next day, I tell Alexa to remind me at a specific time … or else text or email myself a message. My phone and the Alexa device are always nearby.

I think about things when I’m about to go to sleep too, but it’s not car repair.

If I’m driving or doing something where I can’t make a note, I’ll ask family to remind me. Will even say it’s totally fine if they forget. Just the asking helps me remember.

Want to remember something in the morning? Think about it, then put something (any object, really) in your shoe. You’ll remember it.

I have great difficulty remembering things just as I’m going to bed. I’ll look at the clock or ask Siri what time is it when I go to bed……in the morning I just don’t remember the time. I do remember asking or looking, but the actual time….haven’t got a clue.

All of the above remedies rely on a functioning power grid and internet. And probably a whole other bunch of stuff taken totally for granted.

If I do something my wife doesn’t like (big or little – example: she doesn’t like the way I say ‘towel’) (my ‘tahl’ versus her two-syllable ‘tow-well’), she’ll wake me up, usually just after me falling asleep, saying, “why do you always do that?” After some back and forth to determine what ‘that’ is, providing an sleepy explanation and apology if needed, she goes to sleep (unless some ‘comforting’ is also needed…), and I fall asleep to her gentle purring.

I’ve taken to telling Alexa to remind me at 0900 the next day. This keeps my mind from dwelling on it and I can fall asleep.

In addition to my current cell phone (which I hate for so many reasons including it being too big for my jeans pocket or to stay in my hand without falling out of my hand) I still have my Palm Centro which I use a PDA around the house as it is so MUCH BETTER. I sync it to Lotus Organizer (long dead software) which is in a Window XP virtual machine in both of my current computers – desk and laptop.

The Centro will remind me of when we have to do have what and whose birthday/anniversary is when. Also when we have an (rare) appointment to deal with. It is generally a system which works great. (Generally as I forgot to make a note in it the other day to remind me to take out an insulin pen for husband to let it warm up before he used at night and I forgot to take it out…)
