If this is what it will take for the majority of Americans to finally realise what a catastrophe the GOP is and to finally vote them out, then it’s worth it.
Somewhere in that pile of kindling is the U.S. Constitution. The GQPers want to get rid of that, too. The Supreme Court they’ve managed to weaponize is working to that end, but it’s moving too slowly for most of the NotSee Party politicians.
The magats WANT to burn it all down. They want an end to America and Democracy in favor of a tyrannical overlord running an authoritarian government for the white religious terrorists. For them this government shutdown is a WIN! That’s what people don’t seem to grasp. The greenes, and gaetz’s and bobert’s see all the pain and suffering they’re causing as a GOOD thing.
Interesting how a failed, obstructive, House and speaker that is unwilling/unable to solve/resolve issues like immigration, wealth inequity, infrastructure repair/maintenance, effects of AGW, etc, through civil collaborative legislation, in a mature responsible way … are able to shift the blame to the executive branch.
He has no pride, no shame, and a dangerous ego partnered with no backbone. He showed his lack of mettle sitting thru 15 votes, allowing quislings to dictate his words and actions, but holding that gavel soothes his panicky ‘soul’.
Kevin KNEW this would happen from the outset – but he has to profess ignorance (actually, it’s STUPIDITY, and blatant, at that) since he can’t admit that all this was planned, from the start – Kevin just wanted his portrait hanging in the “Speaker’s Gallery” – everything else is immaterial…
Paul Ryan is from my home state of Wisconsin. I disagree with about 85% of his politics, but at least he had enuf integrity to abandon the speakership when he figured out that he was going to be captain of the ultimate ship of fools.

He gave up his right to understand those ‘individuals’ when he gave them power over everything he does in his so coveted role.

It is the duty of the Speaker to “understand” why. — It’s called leadership.

Kevie, if you sleep with dogs you’re going to get burnt.
Remember that if you play with matches you’re going to get fleas.
Hey now, the logic should make perfect sense for the way you MAGAts think.

Just for the sake of historical accuracy Kevin should also be holding a torch.

There’s just one individual, and the House is just following his orders.

Hey, McCarty, YOU insisted on the job. YOU pushed 16 voting sessions for that job. Man up and deal with it.
