A cold case in an expanding folder. I wonder how long ago that happened. It seems like all the members of the team are uncovering good stuff.

and it looks like Shelley has slightly increased Lizz’ eye makeup a bit more than she had on the last time she made an appearance…

Lizz is starting to get back her trademark look without it being overly done as it was back in the day…

P.2. Lizz is sweet while P.3. shows an element of danger. Might she have something that starts to draw a link to Lizzy librarian ?

Are we up to four murders now?

Cold case and the weapon of choice was a sharp instrument. Did the victim own a rare manuscript?

Tracy is giving Lee a big time DIS with that cold shoulder of his. Not even looking her in the eyes as he gives her a lame compliment, while gazing lovingly at Lizz! Lee’s shocked look says it all.

If we can’t get any action out of this snorefest of a story. at least Eric is giving us a decent soap opera!

Are they ever going to find who keeps putting case files in the fridge?

Why obviously the crooked killer is a monstrous murdering medieval manuscripts maniac. And we gots only one suspect so far. Search her hugeomongous largenormous library and arrests her!

Are cold case files actually labeled cold case? I just assumed there was a room full of file cabinets/boxes where the evidence from cases that had gone inactive were stored. But the file would still be labeled something like, “Crater, Judge Joseph Force” when it went into storage in 1942 when they gave up and not stamped ‘Cold Case’.

TRACY: “And take Sm with you. Tell him the fine goes up proportionately if he chalks them once they’re moving. The faster they’re going at the time,the better for the city treasury.”

SAM (excitedly): And I’ll get gold star!!

TRACY (veiled expression and only snickering slightly):“You’ll get SOMETHING.”

LIZZ: This cold case is about – get this – a stolen Shakespeare first folio from several years back! And even curiouser – the courier was stabbed like the other…

TRACY: Lizz, haven’t you been keeping up with the strips?

(More seriously, I had figured that Tracy got a briefing on all the cold cases he was given just like the Shakespeare folio murder. Or maybe there was something in the folio case that no one had noticed before Lizz did :)

Tracy accepts the hefty file, opens it, and cringes.

TRACY: “LIZ! That DOES it! The babysitting side job is el finito! Billy from FAMILY CIRCUS has colored all OVER these pages!”

Lizz has found something of interest in a Cold Case file. Similar M.O.? Similar missing rare book or manuscript?

Tracy is satisfied with the progress his crew is making (though Sam seems left out for the moment). I guess I am, too….

A file folder labeled “Cold Case”?!?!? Unless that is the victims’s NAME, somebody should be dismissed from the detectives! And not only the person who labeled that folder, but also the person who ordered the labels, and the person who approved the order.

Wait a second…did Ms. Caxton die six months ago? Because that’s when the shop’s good customer brought in the book. No, I don’t think so. Instead, it was the “cold case” murder dated seven months ago in last Thursday’s strip – so this must be the (as yet unknown) book that was stolen! So it’s different from the 1290 prayer book that Tracy is phoning Mason & Woods about.

Another theory: “Eric Costello” is actually a group of four guest writers, each one writing the investigation of a different murder: one writer (and one victim) for each of the four MCU members. This explains the shifting storylines! LOL j/k!!

Four murders, but (maybe) only two unidentified works:

Ms. Caxton: Her grandfather’s 1290 prayer book.

Delivery courier: Shakespeare First Folio

Aldus Manutius: Possibly the “Volume (or folder) IV” noted by Lee as possibly missing on September 29.

“Cold Case”: Very possibly the book with the early-20th cover discussed today.
