Yes, we know. Libris was one of the people there on the last day that Manutius was seen. I guess Tracy doesn’t want to tip her off explicitly yet that he considers her a suspect.
I love how Shelley has drawn Tracy looking very constipated/annoyed in the first panel! She’s transferring her disdain of the pace of this current story onto the character she’s drawing!
Well done Shelley, well done. You’re definitely giving Ziggyman a tingle down his legs today!!!
Why do I think that this strip was meant to be with the one where he looked at the log book the first time?
And could someone please explain what the little card in the top left hand corner of P1 is suppose to be about “Over the next several days.”? I don’t know what it means, badly worded or my failed education?
It’s somehow appropriate and yet ironic at the same time that we’re STILL saddled with this Turkey of a story nearly what…3 months in? And no mention of the holiday at all in the strip either
Let’s see… Tracy has sufficient evidence for a search warrant of the book bindery, and reason to believe Ms Libris the killer and thief from the testimony of the late backroom guy. But apparently since the source of in the information was killed — in the same manner of at least four previous murders — Tracy decides not to move ahead with it? Tracy was impressed the the Libris & Caxton grandparents knew each other as he check out newspapers over a hundred years old. And this helps him, how? He has noticed, long after the investigation of the second murder, that Libris had signed in to the Institute minutes the day of the murder, so he will interview everyone there that day — but will leave Libris until last? What have the detectives been doing the last few days? Especially if Wendy has been killed with the same knife thrust to the heart… We should be so lucky.
I feel like I might be missing something. Or maybe Tracy, suddenly bereft of his ESP, has no idea how to run an investigation without Divine intervention.
Tracy isn’t interviewing Libris, not until he gets a steel chest-plate hidden beneath his yellow jacket, like Clint Eastwood in A Fistful of Dollars…..
I’ve been on vacation and away-from-home work assignments, so I haven’t been able to read Tracy everyday. This morning, I went back to the beginning of this arc and have read installment each since. Contrary to what some regular contributors say, I think this is a terrific story line. It doesn’t involve improbable shoot-outs, car chases and other nonsense, but actually causes one to think and see how detectives might actually function! How refreshing. I’ll be back to reading Tracy daily because I want to see the fall of X. Libris. Bravo!
Got some good Turkey Day cartoons but alas this site doesn’t allow photos and GIFs. Wishing everyone some precious moments with those dear to you1 Thanksgiving wish for America: That installed turkey and his even dumber sidekick out of the White House as soon as possible and by any means necessary!!! The sooner that happens a greatful nation can sigh “THANK YOU GOD!!!”
1-Over the next several daysDT: BRRRRRR! I’ve been here for several days and all I’ve learned is that they turn the heat off on holidays. I should probably tell Tess where I am…
2-… Hmmm. Mantius checked in BUT HE NEVER CHECKED OUT!
3-… But what could Roach Motels have to do with this? If only there was a connection between Manutius and one of the other names on this page! Oh well. Maybe a huge turkey feast will fire up the old brain cells. They say turkey is a natural stimulant after all…I think.
I find, as I set out to horrendously burn our annual turkey, I find that my thoughts ascend to heady heights (a community somewhere above Cleveland, I think), and I think we should all strive to find the one true answer to a Great Cosmic Mystery.
To wit…
Is Sam the Woozie Winks or the Doiby Dickles to Tracy?
Great profile of Tracy in panel 3, except that his fedora seems too small for him.
We don’t know what interviews, if any, the MCU or other cops might have conducted with the folks on that calendar page of the Pfister Library log, but Tracy seems to want to double-check those names and see if any are either potential suspects or possible sources of useful information, ahead of getting down to Ms. Libris, who for the moment seems to be the prime suspect.
Gee, I wonder what happened between Wendy Wichel and Xaviera at that charitable gig? Will we find out any time soon (or at al)?
Going through and deleting dead phone contacts while extending holiday wishes to others I managed to get Night-Gaunt49 on.
He is (still) in hospital from a below-the-right-knee amputation and is going through rehab. Anyone who cares to “keep him some company” send your inquiry to me (at the profile) and I will send you his number. Not posting it here as it leaves potential for SPAM calls.
So it appears that the strip is trying to explain the non-mention of the logbook since September 27 (which is almost two months, in real time) by saying that of course the sign-ins were checked out (off-panel) and interviewed by the police if they deemed it to be warranted :P Except why would they not interview Libris, and if she was why wasn’t this mentioned in the discussion between Tracy and Libris in her library?
Despite this, on this special day in the United States, I give thanks to Team Tracy for finally having MCI acknowledge that the logbook with LIbris’ name on it was important :)
However, before Tracy’s second (and final?) talk with Libris, the tie-in with the Shakespeare folio (besides the murder weapon and the valuable manuscripts) still needs to be explained. Does the info get provided by a surprising source – Wendy Wichel???? :)

Of course Tracy doesn’t want to interview Libris yet. That might move us closer to the climax of the story, & we can’t have that happening.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
