I remember doing that to the tv. Also to the radio. Today we unplug them wait a minute, and plug them back in.

I knew a stage technician who used to use that technique on the light board; he called it “a delicate adjustment.”

I’d call that a rather revolutionary Che(shire) Guevara-method of rearrangement, but who am I to judge?…

Sadly, the old “ballpeen adjustment” doesn’t work on today’s smart TVs. Unless what you want is to go buy a new one. Doesn’t mean I haven’t wanted to try it on occasion. For some reason when I am tired or stressed out, electronic gadgets get stroppy. I have walked past a DVD and had it open all by itself, and no, I wasn’t carrying my phone. One time I was in a public office and the printer the person was using wasn’t working. I said, “Just a moment, I’ll be right back.” Walked to the other end of the room—printer worked fine.

Sorry, Lucy, this was pro bono. Besides, you might want to forego the bill lest Snoopy lawyer decides to sue.

I try that with my 55" OLED Flat Screen and I wind up with a BROKEN 55" OLED Flat Screen. Besides, it’s probably the Cable Company’s fault. Or the Router.

    Another old joke:

A company called a repairman to fix a broken piece of equipment. He walked around for about 15 minutes, took out a hammer and hit it against a pipe. The equipment started working.

He sent them a bill for $10,000. The company complained stating that all he did was tap a pipe with a hammer. They demanded a detailed invoice to justify the bill.

    He sent them:

Hitting equipment with a hammer: $5.

    Knowing where to hit: $9,995

For you youngsters, that is exactly what we did in the 50’s and 60’s when the TV was buzzing or the picture was rolling or out of focus.

I had a huge console TV that I nicknamed “Slappy”. When it finally died after many years of service, it became a stand for it’s replacement.

Fascinating seeing Schulz emulate Tenniel, and still bring it into his own style.

I wonder if this is how Fonzie learned to control the jukebox (among other things) by thumping it with the side of his fist.
