Can someone write a prescription that orders the GQP to leave the United States? They might be happier being in a country with politicians who think exactly like them, such as Iran or Saudi Arabia.
The Christofascists want the entire country like Texas. Here in Pennsylvania, no one would notice that the Uncle Thomas Court had overruled McCorvey vs Wade. However, we do have a few in the legislature who want to bring back the back alleys in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
How Rethuglicons screamed that “Obamacare” would result in “government death panels” making life and death decisions over patients’ health. But it’s okay for Texas’ Rethuglicon AG and right-leaning Supreme Court to try to do the same with Ms. Cox.
Forced birth is NOT pro-life. It’s all about control of women whether it’s detrimental to them or not. The rethuglicants get all in a frenzy about killing babies when a zygote or fetus is not a “baby” yet.
Based on the report, in 2017 in Texas, 2,236 infants died before their first birthday. In the Lone Star state, the infant mortality rate is 5.9 per 1,000 live births.
Despite some action taken to extend Medicaid, Texas still hasn’t expanded coverage, which could help save the lives of both babies and their mothers.
Paxton is from North Dakota. We in Texas have been overrun with far right nuts from all over the country. They have been worse than anybody crossing over from Mexico
What a dumpster fire that state is. I just love how their Supreme Court overturned the lower court’s ruling saying this is a decision to be made by doctors, not lawyers. THEN THEY SAY THAT THE DOCTOR IS WRONG, even after the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists publicly supported that doctor. So, tell me again how this is a decision that should not be made by lawyers, YOU PATHETIC HYPOCRITICAL A$$HOLES!
The Texas Taliban in my state is alive and powerful…and a majority of my neighbors continue to vote to ban books, control women, and let criminals stay in office (like my state rep Fred Frazier who plead no contest to election fraud last week, stays in office and pays a small fine).
I’m past worrying about getting pregnant. But, that is really missing the point. If a group of legislators is going to have the power to determine what rights we all have, we need to make sure that we elect people who trust us to control such personal aspects of our lives. Republicans talk about small government, but want to decide such things for us. Democrats aren’t so controlling. Elect the people who will let you live your life as you choose, and you won’t have this problem, or god only knows what else if enough of them are in control.
That/This abortion thing in Texas is a clear indication of where America is going so long as republican politicians can push their abortion ideology. Might need to re evaluate what “freedom” means in America. And, vote blue to give women the right to their own bodies.
If your state does not have casinos, so you go to Vegas, when you come back will they arrest you? Can we just give Texas back to Mexico, as the GQP is suggesting Ukraine does with Russia? Mexico probably won’t take it.
No kidding! It’s getting to the point where women will have to have permission to relieve themselves! One of my daily gratitude affirmations is that I DON’T live in Texas
Here is the relevant passage from the ruling the Texas SC made:
Though the statute affords physicians discretion, it requires more than a doctor’s mere subjective belief. By requiring the doctor to exercise “reasonable medical judgment,” the Legislature determined that the medical judgment involved must meet an objective standard.4 Dr. Karsan asserted that she has a “good faith belief” that Ms. Cox meets the exception’s requirements. Certainly, a doctor cannot exercise “reasonable medical judgment” if she does not hold her judgment in good faith. But the statute requires that judgment be a “reasonable medical” judgment, and Dr. Karsan has not asserted that her “good faith belief” about Ms. Cox’s condition meets that standard.
In other words, the Texas SC took the words of Dr. Karsan, refused to admit it met their threshold, and refused to grant an exception, giving Paxton the opportunity to prosecute anyone performing the medical procedure for Ms. Cox. The Texas court knew exactly what they were doing when they made this ruling.
Women have to unite to beat back these women-hating authoritarians and regain their rights.
Once again: The point of banning abortions is NOT to reduce their number. Contraceptives, sex education, access to health care and other efforts, would accomplish that.
That is NOT the objective.
The objective is to PUNISH SINNERS, women sinners, and especially poor women sinners. (of course, being poor shows that they are not in God’s graces and are therefore sinners anyway)
.
And does ANYONE believe that once abortions are made illegal, that they will not be available to Republican legislators?
I can’t figure out why any sane woman would even consider voting for Republicans. They don’t have their best interest at heart. Same goes for the Blacks, Latinos, Asians, the LGBTQ community or any minority. The only thing the Republicans supports are rich white men, who can send their mistresses some where else for an abortion and of course Putin.
It’s a major shame Ms. Cox had to leave Texas for her health, but hopefully she’ll be able to deal with her issue sooner rather than later. If she’s smart, she won’t return to Texas and have to deal with AG Paxton and/or Gov. Abbott.

Patriarchy. Women are strictly for the pleasure of men. If one dies because of their dystopian laws, c’est la vie. Plenty more to abuse.
