/// Hendrik needed a cow that could freeze,

hunkered down on her elbows and knees.

    Did it pose on demand?

    No, the beast couldn’t stand.

She’s infected with mad cow disease.

Gerardus found himself in an uncomfortable situation when both the sheep and cattle showed up in the meadow at the same time.

That creepy stalker was at it again, painting Pierre as he was trying to capture the sensual animal voluptuousness of Bessy the cow.

Hey, if you have something to say to me, come over here and say it – don’t go being all passive-aggressive, painting me as some sort of half bald cow obsessed freak or something.

The price of good models is steep/

So he settles for cattle and sheep:/

    But the problem with those/

    Is sheep won’t hold a pose/

And the cattle keep falling asleep.

Even though he considered this work to be his Moona Lisa, this artist never became world famous like Moochelangelo or Edvard Moonch.

Farmers and animal breeds often had professional paintings made of their most prized livestock and dogs. They placed them on a wall separate from family portraits, and were very proud of both. I have seen those (as photographs) in some old farmhouses around where I used to live.

For some reason, I connect the following Gertrude Stein bit with that:

“A Book Concluding with As a Wife Has a Cow: A Love Story”

The Artist Painting a Cow in a Meadow or Self Portrait in a Landscape

    Paste (including the quote marks)

"Category:1850 portrait paintings of men" Wikimedia

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found and once there find the text string Bakhuyzen, and click its link for info and links that point to more info (perhaps best viewed using the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers, which can automatically translate most webpages if necessary) about this roughly jumbo envelope size painting, along with a (just added) Description

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3254 (January 17, 2024) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger, if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. Only work by him used here so far.
