The universe is petty and mean.

Well, that’s the Universe’s tough luck, because there’s nowhere else for us to go.

The Universe is utterly indifferent. If there’s any justice in this life and this world, it lies in the fact that there’s none whatsoever.

The universe has NO sense of obligation. Nor is it out to get you. It simply doesn’t care at all. On your own head be the blame (also random chance).

People get upset when treated unfairly, but fairness is a fantasy word created by humans. Nowhere in nature do you see fairness. It’s synonymous with justice, which doesn’t exist either!

Things just happen; there’s no grand purpose and there’s no “reason” for them except where the things you do that can definitively affect events that happen next. If you don’t study and work hard, don’t blame the universe when get poor grades and a lousy job with no advancement.

Wise A$$ On The Hill yet again. I’m probably in the minority here, but I have felt for quite a while that Pearls has “jumped the shark”. The isn’t any more comic energy. Nothing like rat being sent to comics reeducation camp, the crocs adventures, etc. It still has a good one-off gag often enough, but it’s past its prime. That’s bound to happen with every long-running strip. Oh well.
