Do you think dictator Trump will assassinate the top dems immediately or will there be concentration camps and show trials first?

^^^There is nothing racist about the cartoon. On January 6th, 2021 insurgents broke into the Capitol yelling ‘hang Mike Pence’. After that being Trump’s VP would be a hard sell.

If I was Mike Pence, I would have built the political equivalent of a manure catapault and buried a certain orange blob under 30,000 pounds of manure.

It would be tempting for someone who really wants the presidency to sign on as VP. Remember this is a 77 year old man who looks like a heart attack or stoke going somewhere to happen, who has the stress of multiple criminal indictments to deal with, and who is probably going to wind up convicted of at least a few of the 91 indictments creating the problem of jail time. He can pardon himself on the federal ones, but it would be interesting to have a president who can’t go to several states because he has an arrest warrant out for him there.

To top that, he is increasingly incoherent. At the rate he is going, he is not going to make it another five years being able to even appear to be aware and capable of doing the job. At that point, he can be removed from office by his cabinet. Those people who are willing to tell Trump that they are devoted to him are the ones most likely to stab him in the back as soon as the getting is good if it does them any good individually. The odds of Trump surviving the term if he is elected are slim, so there is a good chance his VP will wind up with the job

In the ordinary way, you would say “Well, DeSantis is out since both Trump and DeSantis are from the same state”, and unlike Dick Cheney in 2000, I don’t see either Trump or DeSantis moving.

But the requirement that the President and Vice President be from different states is in the same document that also says:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

    So who knows?

I wouldn’t be surprised if he chose Mike Johnson. Another quiet innocuous Republican he can push around that appeals to the religious (not really) right

Hmm. If someone really wants to become President…

If the SCOTUS rules that the President does indeed have total immunity from the law, one could enthusiastically volunteer and become Trump’s VP, but then immediately after they both take office the new VP could assassinate the new Pres. Installing the new new-Pres would take place much more swiftly than any criminal trial, at which point the no-longer-vice President would be covered by his now-Presidential immunity.

If you want to see something truly grotesque, watch a video of Trump’s victory speech after yesterday’s NH primaries. Not only will you see absurd babbling, but also two former candidates, both of color, desperately pandering to be used by Trump as political pawns. I can’t decide which is uglier, his cynical debasement of these two men, or their desperation to be debased.

Nikki Haley is smart enough to say that if offered she would not accept. Let’s see if DeSantis or Ramaswamy are smart enough to run away from that. He should go with young, female, or a minority. Not sure if anyone qualifies for all that but Tim Scott or Tulsi Gabbard are probably in the running. Just guessing, but after 4 more years the VP will be faced with a boss that will try to get around the 22nd amendment.
