Crankshaft is going to be badly iced by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), Greenpeace, BlueVoice, and other groups are all devoted to saving dolphins.
Yup, there’s a punchline worthy of single-panel status. The fact that this is the third day in a row depicting Ed’s eff-up just makes it all the “funnier.”
THUR: “The sun is out!” FRI: “And it’s melting the block of bad ice!” SAT: All watch it melt, while not opening envelopes. SUN, we all gasp in relief that this emotional roller coaster has ended—but Crank says “SQUIRREL!!” and chases it with the chainsaw.
I’m trying to decide if this is funnier than when he ruined another recent ice sculpture display when he backed the school bus into one that apparently was carved right on the curb, and it toppled them all over because they were arranged like dominoes.
A decent week of what I THINK are repeats, and I like the extra detail that Crankshaft’s daughter.. just isn’t suprised. Everyone else is confused how this very possible thing that happens when you hand someone whose not trained in it a chainsaw could happen but she’s like “Yeah that tracks.. are we going to have to pay for this?”
How about we transform this story to the 1500’s? Michelangelo is almost done painting the Sistine Chapel and he hands the brush to Ed saying, “You give it a try!”. I mean that would make as much sense, yes? And then Ed spills paint all over half the ceiling.

Oooh, maybe the next block will be a good block! Let him try again! It’s only Wednesday and the strip needs more filler!
Bill Thompson 9 months ago
Is the chainsaw dangerous? Or has it, like this strip, run out of gas?

TRUE STORY
I belong to SONS OF THE DESERT,the nationwide Laurel&Hardy fan club.
At a convention years ago, we were acting out a scene from THE MUSIC BOX, and invited to wreck a used piano with a sledgehammer.
On my first try,the sledgehammer handle snapped in two. They almost had to cancel the event. People looked at me funny for the next couple of days.

When Krankus talks about a “bad block of ice,” he’s referring to his own cold and hard heart.

Just like an AR-15, it was the chain saw’s fault.
