Mom doesn’t appreciate being cooled down on a hot summer’s day?

Calvin must have imagined mom being the wicked witch of the west.

The view of a five foot Hobbes in the washing machine is interesting.

I’m surprised he can even sit down.

Mom was asking for trouble when she told Calvin to use his imagination!

Surprising Mom didn’t make him do chores, as most comic-strip (and TV) parents do.

Mom doesn’t seem to realize that it’s Calvin’s imagination is what gets him into constant trouble. And she’s not the least bit concerned that he has no playmates his age—that his only “friend” is a stuffed toy!

Watterson’ mother must have been a practical person, he’s always showing Calvin’s mom as doing something ordinary and “real.”

Mr. Watterson was an absolute master at depicting action and emotion.

Mom forgot that Calvin’s imagination only includes mischievousness.

You’d think that by now she would know better than to give him an open-ended message.

It’s a beautiful summer day, but he’s on his bed. He can take a nap! (Dang, I’m gettin’ old!)

Sometimes Mom forgets who she is dealing with. But, this trick will definitely put her back on track.

How long will it take Mom to dry?

Really, Calvin? Exactly what part of what Mom said to your translated to “Please splash me with a bucket of stinky swamp water”?!

LOL… Is the washer done yet?

I find it hard to believe anyone would have to tell Calvin to, “use some imagination”…!

As dumb as I was at six years old, I knew better than to throw a pail of water on my Mother ( I was just as quick to learn ‘what not to do’ + with a wife, too) ! ! ! !

Now, she’s gotta re-strip and paint the chair. LOL.

And I hope the paint is latex for easy clean up

Oooh, pond water, loaded with all the nutrients a Mom needs.

“Go to your bed!” Used as a punishment. And then we wonder why kids resist bedtime.

More evidence that Hobbes really is a stuffed toy and only a real tiger in Calvin’s imagination. No real tiger fits into a washing machine even if one would let you try to put one there.

Strange how my mind went straight to thinking about the after effects on wet T shirts when the water is cold.

This is hands down my favorite splash Watterson ever drew. Just perfect! Still makes me laugh to this day.

Hate to break it to you, Calvin. ALL of our upbringing are filled with inconsistencies!

With such an active imagination, surely he could have imagined what will happen to him when he pulls a stunt like this.

Of course, his imagination seldom thinks in practical terms.

Why did Calvin have to go to the creek to get a bucket of water? No garden hose at the house?
