We’re in the last 15 minutes of a horror film. We’ve seen the innocents doing stupid stuff and we’ve seen the monster doing horrible and stupid stuff. And we’re down to the heart-thumping music while the monster tries to trick the innocents. Will they lock the door and stay safe or will they let the monster in? We’ll know in November.

It’s horrific ONLY because a traitor and insurrectionist is allowed to run again under the GQP banner, when by rights he should have been in jail Jan 7, 2021.

    Only if the Repubs win.

Save democracy and freedom. Vote Democratic up and down the ticket. They aren’t perfect, but they aren’t trying to take away all your rights and privacy. Especially, for women.

You use the written word horror and the ex’s mind still goes elsewhere as he reminisces.

The horrors only exist if you let them exist We are not helpless victims (OK if you are a Republican you are a helpless victim and only Trump can save you – yeah MAGA. We get it).

We can inform ourselves by consulting MULTIPLE news sources, tune out the obvious rhetoric, scare tactic and fear mongering and make an intelligent decision WHEN you vote.

Yes, there are obstacles to this: social media misinformation, cable TV news, gerrymandered districts. purged voter records, new voting rules to name a few. The bottom line is that the voters still have the power (at least for now). We can overcome.

The wannabe dictators win only if we let them.

One reason Buttercup has a large following: if you can’t be the bully, support the one who is. People who support him want to be him but haven’t the money or the position to do it, so they obediently join the herd. But they also know he’ll draw the fire and, if he fails, he will be vilified, while they can just fade into the crowds.

Another op-ed cartoon written without watching the actual SOTU address.

Diaper Don has caused a lot of horror in this country over the past 7 years. Not just for the country as a whole but for his own people. His wife hates him. His staff hate him and talk behind his back about how he literally stinks and has to wear Depends, and how they can’t stand his constant temper tantrums. His old professors called him dumber than a ton of bricks. He continually fired staff despite his assurances that he only hire the “best people.”

But, he does know how to make people stupid. And that’s all you really need. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, writing from prison, described how people can be made willfully stupid though they are (or were) individually intelligent. We are experiencing the same phenomenon today.

It’s a horror film if you’re a Republican. After the GOP response to the SOTU address, it just got scarier. The GOP rebutted by putting a woman in a kitchen. After the loss of Roe, they put a woman in a kitchen. Was she making Trump a sandwich as well? The women in this country are seething and just waiting for November.

Any member of any “minority” group needs to think long and hard before voting for a person who has promised mass deportations, concentration camps on “unused land” for homeless people and others he doesn’t like, removing birthright citizenship, weaponizing the DOJ, purging the federal bureaucracy of anyone who isn’t loyal to him, and “going after” anyone he thinks has wronged him. They also need to think long and hard before abstaining from voting for Biden because he isn’t perfect. Your life will not improve under Trump, I promise you.

I sure am breathing easier this morning. I was worried that Biden wouldn’t be able to keep from looking like an old used up guy and today’s news would be about his gaffs. He didn’t just get a hit, he got a homerun, not just on the written speech, but with the dopes in the audience. I was always voting for, sending money to, and working for Biden, but I was scared that it might not work. Comparing Biden to Trump’s rambling complaints about how mean everyone is to him. WE GOT A WINNER!!!!

OK, everyone, time to quit all the whiny stuff. Armor up, gird your loins and git ready to deal with the idiocy of right-wing populism. All the cryin’ is bad for morale.

How is it a horror? This country faces three large challenges, each of which it can handle (if it chooses to): Gaza, Ukraine, and the border. Notice how Republicans refuse to do anything regarding all of these? Pure politics.

Otherwise, we’ve recovered from COVID, the economy is expanding at a rate no one saw coming, real wages are rising, hundreds of thousands of jobs are created every month, and a great deal more.

Republicans are making things as miserable as they can, but they’re even failing at that.
