Brewster has a point. What does “spring” mean on an orbiting space station, anyway? After all, it’s not confined to a single hemisphere. During every orbit it crosses the equator, so it passes from “spring” to “fall” and back again, over a dozen ties a day!
Ya know what Spring Cleaning came from? When the central heating of homes was a coal powered monster in the basement, each year in the Spring everyone had to wash/clean the walls of their houses to remove the coal residue left from the winter.
Brewster’s less than stellar intellect is worrisome enough, but I’m far more concerned about which critical piece of station equipment he pulled those springs from.

If it were only a bit silly, it wouldn’t have made it into the strip.

They’re what put the spring in their step. Wouldn’t want them to be dirty and squeak all the time.

You don’t want to get caught with dirty springs.

After he’s done cleaning them, Brewster can shape up those springs with a coiling iron.

Brewster starts an interstellar incident as he has just assaulted the visiting representatives from the Slinky Planet.

A clean spring is a happy spring. And, unless you are going to raise their salaries, it is the easiest way to insure their happiness.

Maybe she has something Slinky-er he can help with. That would be a helix of an idea.

Pam, you keep forgetting, you have to be very specific with Brewster.

That must be what’s keeping the R.U. Sirius in orbit. it’s certainly not Cliff’s engineering skill.
