When I was a teen, we got new carpeting. Dad wouldn’t allow anyone to eat anything in the living room for 3 days. Then he smashed a huge moth onto it and left an awful stain. We were free to eat after that.
Our local HVAC guys here always put on booties when they enter a house to do their work.I told them they didn’t need to do that here, but they don’t mind at all.. They like to keep everythingas clean as possible.
Just another attempt by Opal to kill off Earl. Those slip on disposable shoe covers are a slip and fall hazard for older adults. They should be wearing hard bottom slip resistant shoes that either tie on or are healed slip ons, not open back slippers like Opal is wearing. So many of the broken hip cases we see in the surgical unit I work in are from falls cause by unsafe footwear that older adults shouldn’t be wearing.
A close friend comes over to my house regularly and carries a second pair of shoes, his “indoor shoes.” He changes them on the porch before coming in. I never asked him to and I don’t do that, but I will remove my shoes at his house, but without booties, just socks.

Why doesn’t he wear slippers in the house? Or have designated “house shoes”? That’s what we do.
John Lustig (Last Kiss) creator 10 months ago
Yes. But you can call them “man booties” so they’ll sound more macho.

Cheer up, Earl, it could be worse. At least you’re not covering your feet with Wonder Bread bags.

A newly constructed temple invited the public for tours. We went, and we wore those “booties” over our shoes.

My bad feet require orthotics. At $500/pair there’s no way the shoe come off for a pair of “booties”. The pain would be very bad very quickly.

l think the wearing of shoes in the house in the USA goes back to the old days when people had dirt floors in parts of their homes…

Why not cover the carpet with plastic sheeting. That’s what hit men do before they kill someone. The Tidy ones, anyway.

Okay, Opal’s obsessed with the carpet clean. It’s Earl’s house too so step up Earl and wear what you want.
