This incident will be talked about for decades to come in Snug Harbor. Someone will conduct an oral history interview of Ms. Collins in the next year or two, and they will mention it (“speaking of the furniture I had on my porch, the McClellan boy, the younger one, got up on the roof of the McClellans’ house absolutely naked with a carton of eggs. Look out the window see that house? That’s it. Right up on the roof, naked as a jaybird.”) Then someone will incorporate it into a story for the Snug Harbor Historical Society 40 years from now.

Speaking of history, if this were 75 years ago, and there were a local Snug Harbor correspondent for the area’s newspaper (Westerly?) it would make the paper: SNUG HARBOR. Note for nitpickers: according to John Cusick in “Naval Order Celebrates Victory at Manila Bay”, Commodore Dewey’s original order was “You may fire at will, Gridley.” Gridley, known to be a smart aleck, responded with “Which one is Will?” so Dewey clarified, “You may fire when you are ready, Gridley." Cusick says the initial exchange was ignored by historians because it wasn’t very dignified.
