Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Will Wallace save the day? Will the garden club be bombarded? Will Seagull take to the air and return fire? Tune in next time for Donât Egg Him On, or Make Mine Scrambled.
This incident will be talked about for decades to come in Snug Harbor. Someone will conduct an oral history interview of Ms. Collins in the next year or two, and they will mention it (âspeaking of the furniture I had on my porch, the McClellan boy, the younger one, got up on the roof of the McClellansâ house absolutely naked with a carton of eggs. Look out the window see that house? Thatâs it. Right up on the roof, naked as a jaybird.â) Then someone will incorporate it into a story for the Snug Harbor Historical Society 40 years from now.
Speaking of history, if this were 75 years ago, and there were a local Snug Harbor correspondent for the areaâs newspaper (Westerly?) it would make the paper: SNUG HARBOR. Residents were startled Saturday morning to see Sterling McClellan on the roof of the McClellan house in his âbirthday suit,â âŚ
I notice the pattern on the apron (or overdress?) of the observant woman with the spectacles could be interpreted as either flowers or splatted eggsâŚforeshadowing?
âYou may fire at Will, Gridley.â Why? Because Will drew this uncomfortable predicament.
Note for nitpickers: according to John Cusick in âNaval Order Celebrates Victory at Manila Bayâ, Commodore Deweyâs original order was âYou may fire at will, Gridley.â Gridley, known to be a smart aleck, responded with âWhich one is Will?â so Dewey clarified, âYou may fire when you are ready, Gridley." Cusick says the initial exchange was ignored by historians because it wasnât very dignified.
