I don’t need an alarm. I have a cat who demands to be fed first thing in the morning. He’s quite insistent, and has no snooze button. He also has no concept of Daylight Savings Time.
My alarm goes off at 5:20 four days a week, so I can get up to turn on a few lights before my son comes over (he lives in the guest house) with his dog for me to babysit while he is at work. Sometimes I can go back to sleep, but most times not. Like now. Ugg.
It has been a very long time since I used an alarm clock. For my last third of a century of work I had to be there by 6 a.m. and my wife didn’t like my alarm going off before 5. Once I got used to waking up at 4:00 it was a habit that carried over into retirement.
Don’t need an alarm. Neighborhood lighting keeps room less than dark so sleeping is iffy at the best of times. Daylight just adds a brighter bloom around 0630 so, if sleep hasn’t ended early as usual, that does it for me.
Ohhhhh… I didn’t get the 9 til i came in here. I made my old laptop into the bathroom magazine rack 20 years ago. It fires off a wake-up playlist that i have to walk across the room to get to.
Snooze is idiotic, especially if you PLAN its use. Sure, let’s have disturbed sleep instead of just sleeping until it’s time to get up. Set an alarm, get up when it goes off. Go to sleep at a sensible time so you can actually get up.
I do use an alarm (especially in summer when I get up to walk my dogs before the sun comes up) but they tend to startle me awake, I think that’s why I always wake up a few minutes before it goes off
Read an article regarding the snooze button recently. They said that the worst thing you can do is hit the snooze button to get another few minutes of sleep. It will take you much longer to become alert than if you get up right away.
We’re retired, and my wife is my alarm clock. She’s up at 5 am no matter what. Useful during the summer in southern AZ, when temperatures after 10 am are unbearable for outdoor activities.

I’m usually awake around 4:30 am as it is, so I rarely need an alarm clock.

Multiples of nine are one of the easiest as the answer has to equal nine.

There’s nothing like sleep math! My alarm is set for 5:42. I wake up at 3:16 and instantly think "I can sleep another 2 hours and 26 minutes!
