Sigh, I know how she feels. I live in an area that prides itself on all the Fir and Spruces we have. Truthfully I am grateful that they keep the house and yard cooler in the summer. But in the Spring I hate them for all the pollen. Turned my grey deck orange, coated the outdoor furniture, and of course my car. I can’t go outside much because of my allergies to the da*n tree pollen (yet grass pollen doesn’t affect me).
Down south (of King Neptune’s line) we are freed from the heat, humidity, and some of the critters. Sharks and a few other things don’t seem to be affected, though.
The neti pot (or a variation thereof) is your best friend in times like these. And a 1% saline solution. Morning and evening. Nasal lavage is efficient and inexpensive.
I use our remaining stock of COVID masks and wrap around protective eye wear when I go outside. I look ridiculous, but it reduces the irritation of my allergies.
My problem has never been allergies, its I can’t smell a lot of things (always this way, not a covid thing). My wife smells flowers and only a few of them are detectible to me. I can’t smell things like garlic, either, which is handy when we drive through Gilroy California, I guess, since I don’t smell anything and I’m told garlic has an offensive odor.
My wife and I moved to Florida after I retired and one of the things we miss is a real change of seasons. And with the hurricane season fast approaching, we both wish we had moved somewhere else.
Our neighbor thought his wife or son was allergic to goldenrods so we paid us to knock down all the goldenrods in the field near him. Later, I discovered that pollen from goldenrod really doesn’t cause much allergic reaction but it blooms at the same time that ragweed does, so people who didn’t notice the ragweed but noticed the goldenrod blamed the goldenrod. If you make yourself visible, you’re going to get blamed for whatever bad happens.
(If ragweed was around, we didn’t bother it because we didn’t — and still don’t — even know what it is.)
In FL oak pollen season is over by the end of March. April is very nice until it starts getting hot in a few weeks. We had a pleasant 2 weeks of Spring.

Given this comic’s propensity for somewhat realistic depictions, I did NOT see that coming. :D

Yikes! Am I at the right strip? New character? This is a very graphic characterization, more effective than coffee for me this morning.

The tree pollen count has been high the last couple of weeks. Elm, Pecan, Pine have been the worst of the offenders.
