So… Croptop brought an old copy of a children’s book … which belonged to Scardol. But how did she know it was the exact copy that used to belong to Scardol? Was it passed down through various owners over the time with the knowledge it belonged to Scardol? & if it was wouldn’t previous owners know the story behind it & go after the money themselves? & why does an “angel mouse” need a microphone? & why did Scardol leave his loot with Dan Campbell?
Moving right along, next stop the City Library, I guess. The New York Public Library famously has the two lions on either side of the main entrance. (If you haven’t been there, you might remember it from Ghostbusters). The Dick Tracy strip dailies started out exclusively in the New York Daily News and I think that Tracy’s city has always had some resemblances to New York.
We saw Scardol on Thursday with a pen in his hand, writing in a book, so it looks like he wrote his clues into the printed picture book and that’s what we are seeing today.
The lions could stand for lions, or maybe lines but I doubt that. Lines would be way too vague. A library or a zoo are rather public places to hide money but Scardol may have believed in the “hide it in plain sight” philosophy. This almost seems too easy to me. Did he intend for someone else to find the money, thus leaving the clues in the book? If he did, who did he really intend to find the money?
I detect an error in Shelley’s drawing of Galen. He has round sunglasses, not square ones. Still, I’ll have to ask her if it was fun drawing the character.
How much you wanna bet that when Croptop gets to the location in the first clue, she finds there are others in search of the buried loot and “offs” them?
1-CROPPIE:RIIIIIPPPPPP!!! Ahhh. I feel better. CLEANCUT: So that thing comic has easy to figure clues to the whereabouts of a fortune in stolen bank money?
2-CROPPIE: Yes. That’s what O.G. Biker told me. CLEANCUT: Original Ganster? CROPPIE: No. Old Grampa.
3-*CLEANCUT: Could I easily figure out the clues? CROPPIE: Hell, even Bowling League could! CLEANCUT: Interesting. I’m going to the hardware store for some plastic bags and a bone saw. Need anything? CROPPIE: Yeah. A shovel in case the loot is buried.
CLEANCUT: Oh yeah! I’ll need that too! CROPPIE: Cool! We work great together. CLEANCUT: Sure! They won’t even be able to put you back together. HA!CROPPIE: And bleach! I don’t want any of my DNA on your remains. HA!

Greetings, Library Visitors!

If she can master all the clues, robbing banks for her will be a distant memory.

Someone told me it’s all happening at the zoo. I do believe it!

It could be a pun on “lines.” So they should look between the lines of the book.

How did what started out as a seemingly straightforward cops & bank robbers case suddenly morph into this merry mousecapade?

I’m really enjoying the artwork. It’s nice and dynamic, while the story is anything but.
